Isnt it ultimately Ricky's decision? What if he prefers the CFL and wishes to stay there? Will we get anything for him, moneywise?

If the CFL does not require Ricky to take drug test, Than Ricky might just stay in the CFL.

If he does then let him. Nobody should be supried by Ricky's moves anymore and I wouldn't doubt it that he will say that he will stay when the season ends. That's ok though because we still have Ronnie Brown.

no. The cfl is giving them what is considered up there to be a large contract of 240,000....

he makes more than double that earning the minimum in the nfl.

he still owes us 8.6 million or whatever the number is so if he were to stay in the cfl he would have to pay us, but when he signed with toronto i believe the deal said that he will be released after the season and will be eligiable for reinstatement....in a recent interview with ricky he said that he highly respects coach saban and if ricky knows whats best for him finacialy he will come back to the fins in the 07-08 season

I thought I read that the argonauts are making a written agreement to not try to retain him after this season.

Wow ! Ricky will only get paid 240,000. Not a whole lot of money.
Ricky can make more money if he just grows and sells the weed in Canada

He could make over $300k if he was to sign for a longer deal, but likely not much over $350k.

I would suspect he would have a very difficult time paying the Dolphins off if he made that decision. Then again this Ricky anything is more than possible.

...

the deal with the CFL was contigent on nick saban getting assurance that after this season in the CFL that ricky would return to the dolphins. he got that assurance from both the CFL and NFL, which is why thedeal got done. Nick Saban isnt stupid. As for the drug testing, the CFL does not require him to take drug tests but the NFL does. Since he is still a part of the miami dolphins and since he plans to return next year he MUST continue to take his random drug tests with the program.:dolphins:

if he wanna stay let him. I wouldn't like to have a player that wanna play elsewhere than the fins in here. And more, with his problems.. so i wouldn't try to get him back if he wants to stay there. I would just ask for the money he owes, and break relation.

Actually what is the final word on this? He was released to play for the Argo's so he is free and clear of the NFL I thought but his contract with the Fins stays binding while he continues to be part of the NFLPA? If he wishes to rejoin the Fins in 2007, per the NFLPA bargaining agreement he must accept the conditions of the drug testing program? So in short he must pass up to 10 tests a month if he wants a chance at being reinstated in 2007.

Note: As mentioned above if he stays in the CFL he still owes us 8.5m. Plus if he comes back to the NFL we own rights to him through 2008 (2008 because i believe we get him another yr now that he was suspended in 2006)

Edit I don't believe we have any definant info on a contract signed for him to be release in Jan per CFL rules or holding there option for the second yr? I believe it means little considering Ricky's options. This is actually a question LOL
