I know you guys are going to say "where were you the day after he retired" but I wasn't that pissed. I was shocked, to be sure, but not pissed.
The day after he retired - I'm not referring to hindsight - but that moment, I thought the following;
Chambers and McMike can become legit stars as the offence revolves around them.
Wanny and Feidler would be exposed as frauds or proven as contributors.
The team could drop far enough to get a top draft pick, and they weren't keeping up with the rest of the teams in the division anyway. (Bills, Jets, Pats were all talking SB this year and last year, to a lesser degree).
Despite our difficulty understanding this, if Ricky doesn't think that his salary is worth playing football, then so be it. There is nothing we can do about that, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
Ricky was going to miss the season anyway, even if he didn't retire. He tested positive for weed, and would have been suspended for a full season in addition to his four game suspension.
America is way too uptight about marijuana. If nothing else, pot is safer and healthier than alchohol. I won't get into all the conspiracy theories.
