Merged: Which of these would you pick for the Phins in '06?/Mock Drafts

I'm confused by the question. Are you asking who would I pick If I had the #1 pick?

It would be undoubtedly d'brick Ferguson. I personally like Leinart but I like some of the QB's that could be had later in the draft. Ex. look below.

RB, do you mean if we were picking first as the mock has us picking?

Because if it is, then I don't see more value in anyone than in Leinart in the first position for '06.

I would hope that if we picked first though, that we would be able to trade down and pick up both Ngata and Brady Quinn in the first round, thereby giving us our franchise QB and a NT that would anchor the D for 10-12 years.

The reason for that is that Leinart would tie up so much cap space - he will probably command a signing bonus in the range of $40M - that we would be hard-pressed to fill other needs with top-of-the-line players. Quinn at around the 8-10 spot isn't too far of a drop talent-wise, and he would leave us some $ to work with.

Matt Leinart, smartest qb to come out since Peyton Manning. Not a humongous arm but its definitely above average in that category...and his accuracy and decision making is brilliant at crucial times plus hes something miami needs a clearcut winner. But looks like Tennessee has him in there sights

Picking first? I don't think so. 4th or 5th in my opinion. I take the best receiver or corner....unless Young or Quinn comes out early.

Yes, say for whatever reason we had the #1 overall selection

Hopefully a top tier tackle, linebacker, or cornerback. QB can be addressed in free agency.

Why are we projected to pick #1 overall?

He hasn't updated that mock in like 4 months.

My favorite line.... Chad Jackson breaking out this year in Meyers offense...

im a gators fans.. and havent seen much of meyers offense...lol

Post Mock Drafts here.

I know this is a little early but I just read in another thread some with a mock draft. Instead of posting my own mock in that thread I decided to designate a thread. Assuming we pick at #12 this is what I have.

Round one: Andrew Whitworth, LT LSU; we need a stud at the O-line and this is one of Sban's own guys. This draft is stacked at the top with top O-lineman I say we take one when we have a shot. Others possible Marcus McNeill, OT Auburn, Eric Winston, OT Miami

Round 2: D.J. Shockley, QB Georgia This might be a bit high for him but I don't think he will be there in the third. He might be moved to WR but I think he will stay at QB. He has good vision and great mobility. Others possible Jason Allen, CB Tennessee, Michael Huff, S Texas

Round 3: Jason Allen, CB Tennessee He could fall because of a season ending hip injury and if he does we take him but he will probably go in the 2nd. Others possible Cedric Griffin, CB Texas, Nick Mangold, C Ohio St., Kevin Simon, LB Tennessee.

Round 4: Aaron Harris, MLB Texas I don't believe he will fall this far either but he would be a great pick-up. Others Antwan Allen, CB Iowa, J.D. Runnels, FB Oklahoma

I could go deeper but its hard to speculate with the draft still 6 months away.

It is he hasn't updated it in awhile, but I think this is the best draft site there is.

These three mocks say we take Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs. I don't see him as a first-round prospect. His release point is too low for the NFL.

This late October mock says Vince Young comes out and we get him at #10. He needs to come out, but he'll be gone by #10 if he does.

This mid-October mock says we take Ohio State WR Santonio Holmes at #15. Only if we trade Marty Booker.

This early November mock taps Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn at #12.

This mock thinks our pick won't come until #22, where we'll get Tennessee DT Jesse Mahelona. Doesn't make sense to me, as he is a 3-technique DT in the 4-3 who doesn't project to any of the spots in the 3-4.
