Alex Marvez was telling Joe Rose on WQAM that Penny wants to come back to miami for another year as a backup qb. I think that would be great.

If true, absolutely. I'd rather have Penny as a backup than any other on our roster now.

Against a widespread belief that Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington's two-year tenure in Miami is over, the two-time NFL comeback player of the year isn't ready to say the same. Pennington wants to stay in South Florida.

The veteran has decided to make it his priority to stay with the Dolphins, even if it means backing up quarterback Chad Henne, two sources said this week. The Dolphins are willing to entertain the possibility under some circumstances.
There's a link. :)

Would be one of the best moves of the offseason if we locked him up as the backup to Henne imo. Porter should take notes. Accepting a backup role and then doing whatever it takes to further the starter in their development is what being a leader and team player is all about.

I just heard the same. I am all for it. Having another year with Penny helping Henne watch tape and gameplan will be great. I just do not want to see henne have a bad game and there be QB controversy.

well that would mean another qb trade this year. pat white or tyler thigpen???? maybe a 4th or 5th round pick.

Penny is a CLASS ACT
I would love to have him backup.
Plus his future seems to be in coaching

Hmm, I just can't imagine he has much left in the tank. I would rather have Thigpen as the back-up at this point.
On a side note, very classy of Pennington!

Wow, this is a great unexpected surprise. I would love to have Penny in the meeting rooms and on the practice field with our younger players. I'm sure he would make everyone put extra work in just like he did when he was the starter. Plus, he would be on the sidelines on game days to offer advice. This guy lives and breaths football, and his competitive nature is contagious to everyone around him. Penny wanting to come back to the Dolphins in a backup role actually makes me feel proud of our organization. Good news.

Cosigned!

Penny returning as backup and Henne's sideline game coach and cheerleader is the best of all worlds.
