Dolphins -- and a bit of Heat -- draft chatter:
• After meeting with Chris Long, Jake Long and Matt Ryan on their college campuses, the Dolphins are now focusing on prospects beyond the top pick. Although the team doesn't release names, we have identified several players (excluding the UM prospects) who are being brought to Davie for meetings with coaches and team executives. Purdue tight end Dustin Keller -- a converted receiver who caught 68 passes for 881 yards in '07 -- will visit next Tuesday, but many believe he will be drafted before Miami's first of two second-round picks.

The Dolphins, who are making linebacker a priority, are bringing in Auburn's Quentin Groves, a potential second-rounder with 26 career sacks, and UNLV's Beau Bell, a potential third-rounder. (FYI: Miami requested more tape of Georgia's Marcus Howard and has closely studied several potential second-round linebackers, including Oklahoma's Curtis Lofton, USC end/linebacker Lawrence Jackson, Purdue's Cliff Avril and Tennessee's Jerod Mayo, although none of those five was booked for visits.)

I think we should bring in both these guys:
Buck Buchanan Award
I-AA Defensive Player of the Year
2007 Kroy Biermann, Montana
ESPN

Clark Atlanta's Curtis Johnson (the Division II Defensive Player of the Year)
I've always said that if your competing at this level and want a shot in the NFL, you better be one of the top guys at your position. Both have Late Rd./FA grades, so I think it would be great if we let both compete for a roster slot.

Actually I believe it's 30 non local players...local I don't believe there's a limit.

By the way...You do know I was kidding...right?

It's 20 non local, unlimited local. It was good for educational purposes, all kidding aside. :D

There is a strange silence with Dorsey which makes me wonder if something might be up in regards to Miami's interest in him. I will admit that I have a tough time getting over his height and the likely ramifications given Bill Parcells preferences, yet, it is nonetheless interesting since I believe he is the best player in the draft.

dorsey is to injury prone

Miami Herald: Dolphins look beyond top draft pick

Title might be misleading but i took it as it was on the herald...no trade down scenarios or any shenanagans, they talk about who the dolphins might be interested in later rounds... some names have popped out here (groves, bell for example) but there are others who are new, to me at least.

Check it out

Some people were talking about how offensive this draft would be since we patched our defence with "quality backups" (like some would call) ... but by the looks of the visits we are having, it'll be 50-50 and looks like it will tend towards defence a liiiiiiiiiiittle more...

EDIT: sorry guys, wasn't posted when i logged in but now that i posted my thread it's been reported twice lol... my bad i guess

Are you sure it's only 20?

"Groves will be among the 30 out-of-town players that will visit the team Wednesday and Thursday"

The NFL said teams can bring in up to 30 nonlocal players for interviews and medical tests, but not workouts. But players with local ties -- primarily UM prospects -- can work out for the Dolphins on Friday, including two under-the-radar linebackers who intrigue them: Clark Atlanta's Curtis Johnson (the Division II Defensive Player of the Year) and West Texas A&M's Steve Allen.

Looks as if 2 of the top 3 picks could be linebackers. Linebackers are the key for a 3-4 defense. Look for JT to be traded. BP is rebuilding the LB core and O-line this year from the way it looks from this thread. C Long will be our #1 pick then he'll build the D around him and the Offense around Beck or someone maybe next year if nobody steps up this year.
