Merged x3: Jon Gruden fired by Tampa Bay

Miami should bring him in.....not as a head coach but as an assistant. We could use his intensity. I wonder if Tony
Dungy would maybe take this job in Tampa since that is where his family lives????

LOL thats funny you mentioned that but Adam Schefter was just talking about that, saying how it can be a possibility that they try and talk to him to unretire to coach in Tampa.
 
Jon GRuden fired as Bucs Head Coach

Breaking news on NFL.com says Jon Gruden has been fired along with the GM Bruce Allen today. That's a bigger shock then Shanahan.

Dungy did all the work to get Tampa to the Championship level and then Chuckie came in and took all the credit when they won a SB there. :lol:

I agree...They were saying Gruden might end up on the Jets, and possibly Shanahan to Tampa...but who knows, maybe Dungy does end up going to Tampa, the NFL is crazy
 
I say Gruden heads back to Oakland where they will convince Al Davis that Gruden never left in the first place. Al Davis, being senile in his old age will then come to believe that Gruden didn't leave. However, he will end up firing Gruden again at the end of the 2009 season because the Raiders still suck.

Just a heads up Dolphin fans. Jon Gruden has been fired by the Tampa Bay Bucs.
 
Wow this is a shocker..
But a bad timing I think.. Most of the head-coaching candidates are deep into interviews with other teams so they maybe should've done it earlier..
 
IMO, the last several years he's done little to make a compelling case that he's anything other than a mediocre HC. This year, his team's tailspin was almost as meteoric as Mangina's. Good move for Tampa (and probably for Favre too, if any team is short-sighted enough to hire Gruden on the basis of the Chucky aura). It's funny, but not surprising, reading how the cretins on one of the inbred Jest boards are in a frenzy creaming over the possibliity of hiring him. Personally, I hope Woody does.
 
Wow Tampa now in a period of transition with who sale changes being made across the FO and coaching staff.
