merged:y not trade for mcpherson???/Jordan for McPherson

Who do the saints have that is no promising that they cant keep McPherson as their 3rd stringer. Brooks is an underachiever to say the least. Who else do they have..Brian St. Peirre. With McPersons athletic ability I dont see how they can cu thim. Haslet doesnt care about the future, he is just trying to save his job

I believe trading away any picks is a mistake. Everyone seems to think with a couple of decent trades, we become super bowl contenders. Hang onto the picks and play for two years from now.

he is the great back up incase brooks decides to suck another year.

it was a great pick for them.

i dont get where people say Aaron Brooks is a bad qb...it puzzles me..for the past 4 seasons hes thrown over 3500 yards

he has vick speed and a decent arm???

hard to pass that up imo

If he has Vick speed, then Lamar Gordon has the agility of Barry Sanders. Face it, Vick has unique ability and is incredibly fast and agile. If more guys could replicate this, don't you think we would have seen it in guys besides Vick? Every mobile QB isn't Vick, and a lot of mobile QB's really don't benefit that much from having mobility. Sure, it is nice when a lane is open to run and get the first down, but you don't need to be extremely fast to play QB in the NFL, you need instinct. From what I remember Ray Lucas was pretty mobile, and all that meant was that he started to take off running and then threw an interception cause he was indecisive.

Why do we always have to think about trading for some guy buried on somebody's depth chart??

If this team is going to rebuild, we've got to stop trading picks away. That's what got the previous administration in trouble. It's a sign of desperation. We're not desperate, we're rebuilding.

We have to resign ourselves to the fact that we can't fix everything this year. We're going to have to grin and bare some things. I seriously doubt he'll be cut, regardless of his position on their depth chart. But if he is, we'd definitely take a look.

We have enough retreads and rejects stocking the QB position right now anyway. I hope you realize that the guy is FOURTH on the depth chart for a reason. It's not a fluke, it's not a mistake. He's ranked behind Todd Bouman and Kliff Kingsbury, guys. Get real. :shakeno:

How about we get the OL to give the QBs time to take a step or two back from the center before they get thumped yet again, or have them open a hole or two for a RB to squeeze through, or have the receivers actually catch and hold on to a ball when it's thrown to them. That's what this offense needs the most right now.

Because he's probably going to get cut. Do some of his pre draft supporters still think we should have invested a 3rd rd pick on this project?
No way he gets cut. They knew when they drafted him he was a project. He will stay with the Saints till at least next year.

What got the former administration in trouble was poor drafting & poor trades..

Also would someone explain the difference between trading for a young player & excerising the pick in the draft? You still get one player for one pick.

Example: What is the difference in trading a 4th Rd pick for McPherson & having picked him in the 4th Rd.? Other than the picks come in different years.

I see no reason to waste anything on him, if he gets cut... couldnt hurt to try him but even if he does make their team he wont play so its not like his stock will rise and he'll be hard to get or anything. Give him a chance to show he has matured enough to stay out of trouble and check back next year.

Isn't there a limit on how many players we can have in camp? I thought cut down day was coming soon. If we bring in all 347 guys that "It wouldn't hurt to take a look at", we might be over the limit.

I wouldn't of drafted McPherson in the 7th rd of the draft. If Clarett is cut, should the team pick him up also, because he showed just as much ability, and about the same amount of character.
