You wanna know if Ricky is coming back?

Easy...if we pass up a RB with our pick...it can only mean one thing...a Ricky comeback is a lock.

My thinking is this.....even if he does come back....what would be so wrong with having two great backs? Or better yet...trading down....and still picking a back with one of our trade down picks.

What is the thinking on the board?

Even if he comes back we should still pick a RB. Ricky isnt exactly "reliable."

I do not think Ricky's possible return affects our draft in any way.

Yeah I said in another thread a few days ago, the courtship of Ricky by Saban could be an indicator he wants to go qb with the pick, Ricky returning would allow that. He could trade down as you say if Ricky returns as well. That also could be the holdup with trading Surtain IMO. Saban could be including Pat in a draft day deal to accumulate multiple picks, but doesnt want to do it and miss out on Brown if Ricky isnt coming back.

I really dont know, there are quite a few viable scenarios based on teh needs of teh team.

There is no such thing as a "lock" with Ricky.

but if we dont pick a back and we get ricky we still have gordon and morris with morris 4 ypc

With the depth of the RB class this year, we could easily pick up a RB in the later rounds (particularly 3rd if we don't get a 2nd) if we go QB with the #2. So, I wouldn't say that it's a lock.

Exactly, I think it would free up the #2 spot for some other position and we could still pick up someone like Marion Barber III or Ciatrick Fason later in the draft. Someone with lots of upside but needs some grooming.

I think Ricky still has a long ways away till he can come back. He has already lost 30lbs and has a 4 game suspension. Plus some of the players are still very mad at him.

I've said it before, Braylon Edwards is the way to go. Regardless what Ricky does. In my opinion, we'll be alright at QB this year and I feel we'll pick up a RB in the later rounds. This will be Feeley's year to prove he can play. Last year he was not given a fair shot or dealt a good hand. If Ricky does come back, great, but history has taught us that he can't be relied upon.

I think he will go with Braylon Edwards at the #2 if he cannot get good value from a trade down. He said he wants guys that are gamebreakers and Edwards is just that. Assuming Ricky is returning.

I guess we're thinking along the same lines.

I don't know Section, we still have Gordon and Morris, very capable RB's in Linehan's system. That system is not set around a 230-240 lbs RB to pound the ball up the middle 25-35 times a game, but one that would hand off to them an average of 15 times a game.

I still believe if Ricky comes in he will be traded. I also believes that if he stays with an incentive laden contract, he will quit somewhere this year. My reasoning for this is that if he did not want to work his butt off before, that's what he will have to do now, and we all know "it's all about Ricky!"
