Merged3x:Charles Robinson: Saban best offseason move, may contend/ Smoothest moves

I saw that. I agree with the author. The way Saban is approaching everything is for long term gains and consistency. The smart way in my opinion.

While nobody is expecting a miracle from Saban next season, it wouldn't be a total shock to see him whip Miami into playoff contention from the outset. He was a top-notch coordinator with the Browns, then flaunted his ability to patiently turn around flagging college programs without resorting to gimmicks. And lest anyone forget, Saban isn't taking over a Dolphins team completely devoid of talent. Miami still has a strong defensive core that's complemented by a very good draft class. If he can get Williams back into the fold, and institute the focus and motivation former coach Dave Wannstedt couldn't, Saban could immediately make his mark as this offseason's best move.

Where have we heard this before???

Finally! Some respect.

I thought I was going nuts, and we fans were the only ones who wouldn't be shocked if we made the playoffs this year.

Take that, bills fans.

how do you explain what san diego did last year?

so it can be done..

and it is not a miracle, this team was respectable just 2 years ago...

alot of talent here...

Saban is quietly bringing back respectibility to this team.

I was speaking to a Jets fan this afternoon and he's like "well, you know you're rebuilding this season and won't be a force for at least 5 years - in 5 years you'll be a real contender, maybe even as good as the Patriots."

I was just at a loss for words. I couldn't believe he thinks it will take 5 years for us to make a playoff run. So I said nothing. But, inside, I was seething.

What I like is his (the writer) belief that we, in a matter of words, underachieved last year. Many have written opinions on the upcoming season based on our dismal performance last year, not our talent level on the team. I admit, I'm a homer, but I don't think it to unrealistic that we may surprise a few teams this year. If we can get on a roll...who knows how it will end. :)

you can't make a comparison between Miami and San Diego. SD did not have a COMPLETELY new coaching staff. They were also in the Schottenheimer/Phillips system for a few years

Good read. Opitmistic, but very strong on reasons why to feel good about what is happening.

Great article to get ya fired up:D The writer looks like a cross between Danny Partridge and Opey Taylor:lol:

Not to toot my own horn, but I said that a long time ago. In my thread titled "Playoffs? Yes!"
I think Miami has a legit shot at making it to the post season. They aren't given enough credit for the talent that they do have. A solid core of players on both sides of the ball. Depth is the biggest issue. barring significant injuries, we will compete with ANY team in the league.

I agree with you and the writer. I have been saying for a while that last year's debacle was more about injuries and coaching than anything else..........mostly coaching, or a lack thereof.
