Merged3x: Practice squad set....7 guys\1spot left\PS & other ramblings

Why? The guy blows.

I just thought that since he did a good job in the Preseason, that we would put him on the PS.

The 8th position I believe by RULES is reserved for another quarterback. When the NFL expanded the practice squad I believe they actually expanded it to 7 players, plus one quarterback position. Right now, I think the Dolphins are having a tough time figuring out who that QB should be, whether it should be Berlin or some other guy that got cut (is Davey even eligible for the PS anymore?)

Id sign Atari Bigby back. The jets waived and the fans were pissed cuz he played well.He already knows our D he could play this sunday. We need help back there. Madison and howard yikes..

As I just mentioned, the 8th spot may be reserved for QBs only. We'd have to cut someone off the PS to put Bigby on it.

"Panic" is not the PRECISE word for the Feeley trade, but I will say that when they pulled the trigger on it there was a bit of a musical chairs feeling going on that if the Dolphins didn't secure their QB option soon, they would end up screwing the pooch just like they did a year earlier when they got left holding the bag with Wayne Gandy and then couldn't trade their way up into round 1 to get one of the offensive tackles Foster, Harris, or Steinbach (none of whom, btw, have lived up to their billing so far).

If you remember prior to the Feeley thing, there ended up being some QB options that came available after we pulled the trigger on the Feeley trade. I believe Kurt Warner was one, Kerry Collins was another. People at the time DID say that Miami pulled the trigger too soon, were worried they'd be the only one left standing without a chair once again, etc.

The Gordon and Booker trades, THOSE were pure panic. So was the 4th rounder to move up one spot to take Vernon Carey. Pure panic.

It's funny, Rick Spielman did all this analysis to try and come up with the next Jake Delhomme or Tom Brady, and he had a pool of guys he did it on to try and figure this out and Feeley came up as the number one. But, obviously his system was flawed, because Billy Volek was also in that pool and was a free agent last year and WOULD have signed with us had we told him he could compete for the starting job, and we would not have had to give up a 2nd round pick for him...and yet the system said Feeley. But, I guess Rick Spielman wasn't all that smart a guy anyway...

Great post man.

No it is not a rule that that the practice squad is for seven player and a QB. The Dolphins didn't have a QB on the practice squad at all last year and kept 8 through out most of the year.

Check out the Patriots Official site and the Chiefs Official site you will see that they signed 8 this year and none of the players is a QB.
