Sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya reported that "sources" said Saban was still at the top of Alabama's wish list. And while Saban feels tremendous loyalty to Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga, Saban told the MNF crew he misses the teaching that goes on at the college level.

I really hope Saban is staying and turns this team around. But,My gut says he's gonna take the Bama Job after the seasons over.

Well, if he does take the 'Bamma job, he better hope he enjoys
the last job he'll ever get.

That would show an amazeing ammount of gall.

Not to mention it's completely unethical.

I hope he goes back to coaching in college after his decision not to go for it last night. That was terrible.

I've been saying since the rumors first started not to totally dismiss the idea, but almost everyone blows it off as just rumors with no merit. If you look at Saban, you can tell he is not enjoying himself. He is under a tremendous amount of stress and he may feel as if he's bitten off a little more than he can chew. (Who doesn't think Saban presents many of the same demeanors as Wanny did on the sidelines. You know: that lost, confused, surrender to defeat look.) Saban has too much pride to continue to fail when he knows where he can be successful. Couple this with the rumors that the team may be sold, and Saban has an out. He can claim a precarious organizational situation and jump ship.
Anyway, it's just my opinion, but the guy looks beat, dogged, whipped. I'm not saying he is going to leave, but I'm not totally ruling it out either. It's a very real possibility.

You make some excellent points!! Only time will tell as to what his final decision will be.

The last job he'll ever get?? Highly unlikely. Steve "Mr Ego" Spurrier did it and he's now coaching at South Carolina.

If he leaves now, he'll never get another shot in the NFL because of ethics. I think he might want the bama job but he can't take it because it would look bad and diminish any plans that he might have in the future to return to the NFL. I also think he knows that he's basically rebuilding the dolphins and it takes time.

I suppose that's true. Anywhere there is a sorry franchise, they'll be
willing to retread a coach.

I meant a job with a school that has a reasoanble chance to contend
for a NC, which, Alabama doesn't, and, won't since they're loseing thier top commits daily.

Exactly. If he cuts and runs now, it's bye bye to being a ligit NFL
candidate. If he goes two more years in Miami, the stiff that
Bama gets will be on the chopping block when Saban gets the axe....

He can save face and get the Bama job at the same time, I'm willing to bet.

"Bama Story

I must say that I have never hated a story related to the Fins more in my life. I am so sick and tired of the speculation, rumors, "signs", etc. This whole season has been a disaster and the Alabama story just makes it that much more disgusting. Frankly, whether Saban goes or not I will cheer against Alabama every week of my life. Their damn arrogance in this thing borders on unprofessional. I don't think Saban is going anywhere because he stated that he would not be the HC of Alabama. He would look like a complete fool to jump ship now. I just want to start the offseason and build toward '07 so we can put this TERRIBLE season behind us.
