ESPN 550 The Zone was just talking to a Dallas news reporter and the reporter said "Jason Garrett had an outstanding interview with Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells. He was asked to interview for the OC position but he had such a great interview that he is emerging as the favorite for the HC Job.":tantrum:

This is what I herd on the radio so I don't have a link. Also I would have liked to keep Garrett as a part of the Dolphins and promote him to OC. But if he indeed get selected as the next HC for Dallas than Kudos for him. It would just be nice to have some consistency at the coaching position for once.

Bill Parcells was involved in the interview? And he favors Garrett for the HC position? Talk about your self-fulfilling prophecies: Parcells said a decade ago that Garrett "has head coach written all over him."
 
WHATTT!!!!!!!! like two yrs ago this guy was a 3rd string QB signed because his brother coached with us..last yr he coached QB's this yr HC of the Cowboys...I dont think sooo....

Well some of this may be true and some may not be cause I think he interviewed for the HC job cause I don't ever remeber Mia giving Dallas permision to interview him. So he could only interview for HC not OC, cause he is still under contract to Mia.

Yes Bill Parcells was part of the interview. Garrett had an interview with Jerry Jones and one other individual can't remember his name. After that he had a seperate interview with Bill Parcells. Then he went back to Jerry jones and the other individual. It would be nice if I could remember the other persons name but when I herd the story I was mad that we would be loseing more coaching personell.
 
If this is true, I wonder what Parcells said about the guy. Perhaps he said that in his professional opinion, he's a better coach than Payton. I admit that would get my attention.
 
Garrett has always been projected as a future HC.The success of Payton and and Jets young HC has opened the eyes of some owners.He has some roots with the Boys so it could happen although I still think its a stretch

You cant hold progress down.I would be sad to see him go but I wish him well.

I hope none of it is true and we keep Garrett. But I am just relaying what I herd on the radio. Also they said he came to interview for the Assisant HC/OC position due to the contract with Miami. I believe we did the same thing to the Texans so we could hire Dom (Assisant HC/DC). the only differance is we did even think of promoting him to HC at the time. Because we had The Cowardly Lion for a HC.

Ya that may be true then I can't remember how it all works but there might be a loop hole in there if they call him Ast. HC.

I thought you couldn't use the term assistant head coach anymore as a promotion. I remember that was the discussions when I was talking about a Schottenheimer reunion down here before Cameron was hired. They said that can't be done anymore. So unless he goes to be the head coach of the Cowboys, the Dolphins could deny him even though I don't think they will since they let him interview with Jerry Jones.
 
The Dolphins granted permission to interview Garrett, apparently as long as the Cowboys give him a yay or nay by tomorrow. I read that in one of those threads here. The Dolphins have to grant permission for HC interviews and OC interviews -- the difference is that it's just a formality when it's an assistant interviewing as a HC.
