Merged3x: How about playing BOTH QBs??/PFT link/Woodstrock it isn't....

There's a new wrinkle in the Miami Dolphins' quarterback competition.

Whichever player starts the Sept. 11 season opener against the Denver Broncos won't necessarily finish it.

Because neither Gus Frerotte nor A.J. Feeley has emerged as a clear-cut favorite to win the job, Dolphins coach Nick Saban hasn't ruled out using both quarterbacks.

"If that decision we feel would give us the best opportunity to be successful and play winning football on offense, it's not something we wouldn't consider doing," Saban said Sunday.
here it is...

Yeah, I caught that quote. I hope Saban doesn't go with this. if he does split their time it should be 8 games/8 games. Flip flopping qb's in a game NEVER works at this level....
We went to the SB doing exactly that....not saying it's a good idea but, a great coach can make it work if he has the feel of who needs to be in or out. So, it CAN work at this level.

Do you realize how many years ago that was? The NFL has changed a lot in that time, rotating qb's in and out of a game can not and will not work. It just doesn't leave any time for the qb to get in a groove and if both qb's are splitting practice time during the week it's going to take almost twice as long for the qbs to get thier timing down with the wr's. The velocitiy of the throws and the reads these two guys make are completely different. What about "check with me" plays and hot routes and wr's adjusting their routes given the strentgh of the qbs throws on certain routes. What about sliding the protection of the Oline depending on how long it takes a particular qb for his drops and reads. YOU rotate YOUR qb's in a particular game. I want 1 qb at a time if one isn't getting it done let him finish what he started (unless its getting ugly)....

Dude, why do you have to act like I'm talking out of my a$$? never mind the fact that I already said that I wasn't advocating doing it.

Yeah I know all that. I'm also quite sure that all that stuff was considered way back in the old days too. I mean once we stopped writing plays in the dirt with a stick, of course.

YOU rotate YOUR qb's in a particular game. I want 1 qb at a time if one isn't getting it done let him finish what he started (unless its getting ugly)....

Okay, I'll rotate MY QBs in a particular game....

I think you're misplaced anger needs to be directed towards Saban not me, after all, he's the one that brought it up. I didn't force him to do it.

Football is football, playng the quarterback position then isn't that much different than it is now, except they radio the plays into your helmet now.

If you don't have a QB step up and claim the position, you are better off starting this way until somebody does prove himself worthy of being a starter.

Theres a distinct possibility we don't have a bonafide starter on this team right now.

The fact that one guy cannot pull ahead and win the job does not make me feel real good about the QB's!

I didn't really get to see the game after the 1st quarter, but it sounds like AJ is making a run, I wish Saban would just name one and lets go!

If you have two QBs you have none.

/just getting that out of the way

Well I dont think any of us can actually say that either QB is playing the lights out of Dolphin Stadium. In the end.. Im sure we all have our favorite... but in the end, we want the best players possible on the field.

I think the QB situation will continue all year long.. or until someone gets injured.

Best player possible.... bith QB have shown promise.. yet in different ways... so we'll see.

NO!!!!!! I can live with Either Frerotte, or Feeley, or hell, even Sage, but Interchanging them is a NO GO. To me it's a recipe for failure

we need a QB to play a QB, both of these guys need to be cut. we havent had a QB since Dan . BLAME THE OFFICE AND COACHING STAFF!!!
ITs time to darft a real QB,Maybe they will figure that out next darft.
Saban knows better than this, he will pick a starter.

Whatever works. It probably would be the right way to go.

It always seems like whenever one is on the other is off just like a switch. And the second guy always tries to one-up the first.. It might work out... Unorthodox but it's been done before.

The QB's probably wouldn't mind. The fans probably wouldn't mind. The 10 other starters on offense would HATE IT WITH A PASSION! No flow. No continuity.

If Saban tried this, his stay in the NFL will be short. The players will revolt on him.
