MERGEDX2: Promising Rookies

I'm really excited about our top three picks. Langford has been outstanding so far, and Merling was once predicted to be a top-10 pick before his injury. As long as that injury doesnt bother him anymore, we basically got two top-10 picks in our draft. Langford has been outstanding, and Henne is keeping up or beating our other two QB's.

I'm really pumped about our rookies this year.

Langford could be the most impressive right now, and that includes Jake Long. What Kendall was in college, is not what he is right now...because as Sparano said, he was the one that probably made the biggest gains in the off season strength and conditioning program.

i am loving the fact that we are starting 2 hit on our draft picks.even last year we hit in a couple of picks. i was all for taking brady quinn but when we took tedd ginn i loved it because befor the draft i made all of my friends watch his college highlight tapes which was the best highlight reel of all time and brady quinn is a little girl. he was crying when he didnt win the heismen and he was saying how important it was 2 go number 1 in the draft. try 2 be a little humble u chicken arm crybaby. i dont want a player like that on my team and he is no franchise qb thats for sure. ill take henne over him any day . i can go outside and throw a further deep ball than that little bi*ch .

I LOVE the new system our coaches have in place. Making them earn their position is effin great!!

We haven't hit on anything yet. Remember last year around this time Randy Mueller was touting Paul Soliai, Reagan Mauia and Samson Satele as high impact rookies. Soliai ended up an embarrassment as a rookie, as unprepared as John Beck, and Mauia was really nothing special. Samson though, that was a fine rookie contribution.

I'd like to see them against other team's starters to better gauge where they are at. Langford until recently hasn't been up against Carey much. We'll see how he does taking reps at 1st string. Long is going to a stud, esp. in the running game.

Anyone have the desire to go through the draft threads and to see how many folks on this board graded the draft as a poor one?

nice to hear the rooks can play. i'm real impressed with what i've heard about henne to date.

parmale unless he wants to be a short yardage battering ram back will need to work on his hands. nice late pick though.

thus far sounds like a real good rookie class.

haven't even mentioned jake who can be dominant.

I have been most impressed with what I have read about Donald Thomas... A possible starting RG in the 6th??? Nicely done!!!

Langford, Parmale and Thomas are EXACTLY the kinds of picks we need to be successful with... Those middle-late rounders... Depth selections that have a chance to contribute more than just ST's. Though it is early and I do agree with CK that we have not yet 'hit' on anyone, I love what I am hearing from these guys.

this is true, but isn't it also fair to say that unlike last year's draft these guys actually fit into a plan? You yourself even pointed out that guys like Thomas and Langford played in similar schemes that Sparano is implementing (I'd also say that Parmele if not in a similar system is a perfect fit).

If I remember though, you even said last year Soliai was very talented but extremely raw, and that the only reason Mauia even made the team was Cory S was so poor (same reason Barnes made the team two years ago over Beasley)

Parmele could get a chance to play. A couple years ago, Tuna played Julius Jones,Marion Barber, and Tyson Thompson a fair amount, and none of them are really scat backs or straight up power backs.

I'd be more worried if we were hearing that Jake was struggling. Every so often you'll hear that he struggled against speed, but he has pancaked Joey Porter, and has held his own against the rest of the first team
