MergedX3:Cote: Dolphins eye drafting WV Pat White for Wildcat

If we can get him in the 4th round, and use him as a third string QB/WR/Wildcat Spec....I don't see why not. That would allow the release of Beck.

the popularity of the wildcat will make him a hot property

thoughts?

I like the idea of keeping the wildcat as a wrinkle to the offense next year. when given the situation, it can obviously succeed!! but as far as bringing in white, i dont know. where else would he play besides in the wildcat? qb? no. wr? we got enough small speedy guys, we need a posession reciever. rb? i dont think so.

Huh??? We actually only have "ONE" speed receiver: Tedd Ginn Jr. That's it. Bess was an undrafted free agent because of his lack of breakout speed, Camarillo was an undrafted free agent because of his lack of breakout speed, Wilford wasn't given a chance because of his lack of breakout speed,.....London apparently has some speed but is very unpolished and not strong enough to be a full time WR.

If Ginn was injured we have no deep threat to spot him. Nah, we don't have too many speedsters, you're wrong there buddy...

If we are still running the wildcat enough to warrant drafting a player to be in it then we are in trouble. With that said we are gonna need an insurance policy if Henne doesn't work out because Beck is not the answer, problem is I don't see White as the answer either. But what the hell if he's sitting there in the late 4th early 5th grab him.

i think its possible he could be successful in the NFL as a WR
I have to agree. I don't think we would be drafting him as a QB. If we really want him as a Wildcat specialist, it would likely be as a RB or WR. Reason being is that come game day, you can only have two QBs activated, and if the third would have to come in, the other two can't return. So, White wouldn't be the #2 QB because that belongs to Henne. If you bring White in even for a Wildcat play, then Pennington and Henne couldn't return. He would have to be declared a WR or RB on game days.

he is not to be a QB solution, but an incredible weapon

I would compare him to Hines Ward, an superior athlete who can help you big time

Like I said if he's there late in a QB rich draft grab him. The kids a winner.

It would be great to have Pat White. If the coaching staff feels good about the current wide receiver corps and want just one receiver to add to it, White would be great. Fully athletic addition that can do so many things.
