The Miami Dolphins today signed safety Tyrone Culver to their 53-man roster and waived cornerback Joey Thomas. In addition, the club released wide receiver Jayson Foster off its practice squad and signed defensive tackle Anthony Toribio to the practice squad. Toribio was in camp with the Dolphins before being waived this past Saturday.

Culver, 25, was a sixth-round draft choice of Green Bay in 2006. He played in 14 games, all in a reserve role, with the Packers that year and was credited with six tackles on defense and three more on special teams. He spent all of 2007 on injured reserve with a shoulder injury before being waived on August 31, 2008. Culver was a four-year letterman at Fresno State (2002-05), during which time he played in 51 games with 26 starts and recorded 178 tackles, four sacks, three fumble recoveries and five interceptions. Born July 6, 1983, he attended Palmdale (Calif.) High School.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce, Jason Allen, the corner.

This is a fifth safety, and we released a corner.

Cowboys reluctantly released Evan Oglesby today. Don't be surprised if the Dolphins sign him too.

Makes sense. We shall wait and see, but I'm open to the idea. Remember when Nnamdi Asomugha was constantly being switched from CB to S then S back to CB? If the coaching staff feels it's the right move, then I'm all for it.

Edit: And if he fails here, he will be a goner after this season.

I think Allen played Corner in the KC game. Maybe Allen is lined up as a nickle corner or dime.

This is a Special Teams move IMO more than anything. Culver will also provide SS depth which we dont have and Allen and Crocker can cover well enough to handle CB in a pinch. Also, I believe that Thomas is elgible for the practice squad????
