I can't watch the Fins over here in Germany, at least not many games. Therefore: can anybody tell me how Merling and Langford are doing.? Statwise they seem not to do much. Which worries me more that not having decent cornerbacks. Parcells wanted to build inside out, which I think makes sense.

So he spent a 1st and 2nd rounder (or 2dn and 3rd depending on how you see it) on the D-line. I don't expect our cornerbacks to be good. They were average to awful last year, they still are. But I expect our D-line-rookies to make more of an impact. The first 2 games they piled up sacks, not it got pretty silent.

Can anybody tell me more?

Langford has been starting with Merling in the rotation. KL is showing real signs of beig a very good 3-4 end, Merling has flashes as well, but not as consistent as Langford.

you shouldnt look at stats on the dline with the 3-4 defense. they are both playing very well for rookies. obviously both are inconsistant due to them being rookies and playing in a new defense, but they are playing well.

They won't put up big stats. When you are an DE in the 3-4 it's more about occupying blockers and gaps and allowing the linebackers to make tackles. Plus like Dredd mentioned, our defensive line is a rotation, so no one person plays a high percentage of snaps. I think both guys are looking good for rookies and will continue to improve.

i'll say now as i've said before...i personally believe that Kendall Langford is gonna be a beast for us at DE...Merling i think will be damn good too,but not like i believe Langford will be...

Last year, Rod Wright started nine games. This year, Rod Wright has yet to suit up. That should say it all about how Langford and Merling are playing.

we're in the same boat. i'm from Germany, too, so i have to rely on the comments on the play of some of the guys.

just a few things though. what i've actually seen of Langford and Merling is promising. Langford is struggling a bit when being run on, but he's been doing fine all things considered.

Merling is actually better than i expected. he was supposed to be a role player until he was fully ready to play in the 3-4. he adjusted rather quickly IMO.
