Good choices in my opinion. I hope they don't sign Slaton as well. I'd rather have Will Allen back. Allen was looking good at nickel towards the end of the season.

ok good start, and not much money too...............

What the heck? I thought we'd finally end our relationship with Merling. What has he done but eat Snickers and sit on the bench the majority of the time?

I think you under estimate his woman beating abilities...

He intercepted Brett Farve and got us into the playoffs. As far as I am concerned this guy gets a free pass forever for making that play!

I'd prefer to let him walk and go after a guy like Jeremy Mincey. I really feel Merling had trade value before last year, we should have gotten rid of him before the beginning of last year. Blech.

i like will allen more than slaton also and really hope he comes back, that injury slowed him down but agree he was playing well later in the season. gotta say i like slaton also, he should be pretty cheap and is not a bad player, easier to replace than will allen, but i wouldn't mind holding onto both guys.

I believe Merlin is in the 275 range and might be better suited for DE in the 4 - 3 so maybe he fits thier plans.

I'm actually glad merling is coming back. He's a 43 end and he never had an opportunity to show his skills. He can get back down to 275 or so and be a good player for us.

Merling played a lot more than people think he does.

He played primarily on passing downs and if we lose Langford (which we probably will) it doesn't hurt to have a DE/DT who can play a 5 technique and a situational pass rusher.
