Day 1 of the draft, Keyshawn Johnson was asked if the Fins drafting a DE with the 2nd selection was a "message" to Jason Taylor. Several of the guys and Keyshawn said yes. That being said, what exactly are they referring to? Is Parcells sending a message that Taylor better bring his A game to camp. Or a message that he's going to somehow still be traded? I'm not sure what to think about Taylor right now. He's been a great player for us in the past, but seems like he's fallen out of favor somewhat with management and fans. Some of the rumors about him may be false, but I also think that some of them are true. You have to think, he knows he's the only true "player" on the defensive side of the ball, and still the face of the Miami Dolphins. I think he's trying to use that to his advantage and it seems to be giving him a slightly enlarged head. He may have the mentality that the organization should wait on him hand and foot, but we all know Parcells and co. will not let that happen. I can see it becoming detrimental and a distraction to the team and only get worse throughout the year. He may take plays off, downgrade his level of play, or flat out retire if things get bad. I hope we're not getting a case of Terrell Owens/Chad Johnson syndrome.

I don't know how it would send a message to Taylor because the DE we drafted is not going to be playing weak side linebacker.

Can you send a message by drafting a player that supports the position you play? To me the message is we got you some help. Those big DE types should make life better for JT, by occupying the OT, allowing JT (or Porter) to come off the edge. You can't play the type D they want to play if you don't have the tools. As usual the ESPN analysts are mostly wrong. To me those analysts seem to think the FIns drafted those guys to take Taylor's place..... wrong, JT will play LB and make life miserable for opposing offenses. Does anybody remember the Nicktator's D? Wasn't Taylor the NFL's defensive player of the year? I see only the positives,.... and don't forget about the benefit of having Taylor school Jake Long.

It all depends on how much Taylor wants to leave... a lot or a little? Does getting some DL help for him make him more inclined to hang in there with us, or does he want out so bad he doesn't care? This is critical because if he's going to be miserable here that's going to be picked up by the other players, and nobody needs that as we prepare for the new season.
