Messam tore meniscus on nov4th, how long will that take to heal?

Torn meniscus recovery times will vary depending on the person, injury, and treatment. For example an average person with a tear that can be repaired typically take 6-10 weeks to heal. If they opt to clip the bad part out instead of repair cut that time in half. From a personal standpoint I had meniscus tears clipped along with ACL reconstruction and 10 months later I still have some odd pains. I'm no NFL athlete and I didn't go through the sort of rehab they would, just a comparison.

If Messam doesn't need any ACL work how can you compare an ACL reconstruction with a meniscus tear? That's like comparing a femur fracture to a dislocated big toe.

I also bet that 85% of your statistics are 100% made up.

What? Is this a jokoe or are you butt hurt over something I said so you're doubting me or calling me a liar?

Well, here ya go:

Recovery from surgery varies for different people and for different clinical problems. Patients who have a torn meniscus removed or trimmed can expect to use crutches or a walker for 4 to 7 days. They may have some swelling for 3 to 6 weeks and can return to their normal activities in 4 to 6 weeks, if not sooner.

William Sutton, M.D.

Does that sting?

I'm not comparing the acl to the meniscus, but I had the meniscus trimmed as well and can feel it. The ACL was pretty much pain free, but the torn meniscus was catching, causing pain, so I can recognize which one is which in my knee. Besides, the general info I gave about recovery times is accurate, and I tried to temper my own experience by mentioning the different level of rehab I had vs an nfl guy.

I know a couple guys that went in for meniscus surgery and walked out the same day near 100%. Plenty of athletes have it done, Brandon Roy is a guy that had it done a lot, to the point of not having any, and still played well.

Yeah, if they don't get all of the fragments or all of the flap it may still give a person problems. It's possible that some people who have meniscus repairs may take 10 months to recover, as was your case, but the overwhelming majority take less than 2 months.

So to answer the OP's question...I doubt there is any concern whatsoever over Messam's knee.

If the trim or remove it 6 -10 weeks if they sew it up and repair it double that time.
