I've recently come across different posts proclaiming Bush, Slaton and Thomas are all good fits for the new ZBS we will be using in Philbins offense, as far as our running game goes. What I am curious about is how will Messam fit as a runner in this type of scheme. If anyone has any opionins on this matter I would very much appreciate your input.

From the film ive watched so far, Messam is the one cut and go runner that fits the ZBS. It really all comes down to if Reggie can quit dancing in the backfield (which he has failed to learn yet).

The truth of the matter is, a Running Back most of the time is only as good as the big uglys up front. Right now we have no right side of the line and a LG with stone feet. Hopefully we find a way to shore up the line in the draft, because if we don't... it wont matter what blocking scheme we are running, it will be relatively easy to stop

Don't mean to be a dick..but..

You don't watch "film", you watch televised games..

Messam may not even make team
He may not, but I am definitely rooting for him. In the end, I do think he will make the team but it is far from a certainty. A 6-3, 245 pound running back has the potential to be tough for a defense to defend. Only if his talent is able to translate from the CFL to the NFL. I think at the very least he will compete with Thomas for short yardage carries.

Ronnie danced and went nowhere. Reggie gets up behind or among the blockers, waits for the crease and explodes through it when it opens. This is why Reggie is better than Ronnie was.

I watched his videos, not film ;-) on Youtube and he is a very upright runner. He kind of reminds me of OJ when running minus the breakaway speed.. He has great vision also. He could be a bigger better version of Donald Thomas. we shall see... He also catches the ball well in traffic and can block very well..

Hmmmm. Donald Thomas is an Offensive Lineman about 300 lbs.. If he is a a bigger better version of Donald Thomas, I'm guessing he's around 350 lbs...

But jokes aside, he will make the team since he came to replace Lex Hilliard.... We usually carry about 5 RB/FB

I do not concur and maybe he is not as mobile as we'll like him to be, he gets the job done.......I like Incognito's intensity and the way he is able to get to people's head... Remember he had someone ejected last season...

We have no FB. If he can block and convert 3rd and 1or 2 plus goal line he might be the new Polite.I like DT but he's not the big power back to play fullback. Special teams are a must to replace Hillard.

Remember that there are 3 fronts to be fed.. Offense, Defense and Special Teams... Some of the players are used for STs only and if a RB, WR, Lb, DB goes down, that would be their chance.

Well I hope he does too but we wont cut Thomas and Slaton when healthy is a better back so we shall see
