MIA @ DET - Comparing PPG

Comparing MIA and DET PPG against their opponents is instructive.


OFFENSE:


MIA has scored 26.4 PPG against opponents who gave up 23.3 PPG or 3.1 PPG higher than average.


Over the past five games after the O turned a corner in London, MIA scored 30.6 PPG against opponents who gave up 25.3 PPG or 5.3 PPG higher than average.


In comparison, DET only scored 20.3 PPG against opponents who gave up 24.9 PPG or 4.6 PPG LOWER than average.


DEFENSE:


MIA has surrendered18.9 PPG against opponents who scored 26.2 PPG or 7.7 PPG lower than average.


In comparison, DET has surrendered a league best 15.8 PPG against opponents who scored 25.1 PPG or 9.7 PPG lower than average.


In sum, these teams both have elite defenses who can massively reduce opposing scoring, but only MIA has an offense which can score more than opposing defenses normally surrender.


Of note, the MIA D matches up almost perfectly with the one dimensional DET passing O. MIA has pass rushed past better OLs than DET to shut or slow down better QBs than Stafford.

Like last week...these games aren't played on paper...or we would have lost to the Chargers when everyone said we weren't good enough.

Let's just hope we find a way to give Tannehill time to throw, we can limit the damage done by Megatron and score more points in the end. And hopefully not have more injuries.

As long as RT has time to receive the snap and get out from behind center, our offense will click. If Suh can blow up Satele and Pouncey on a regular basis, then we will be in deep trouble.
My money says that we neutralize Suh and he is a non factor.
