I know we traded two second round picks for Marshall, but Ireland got a second round pick back through trading. So Marshall only cost us one second round pick. Miami wanted a second round pick from the Bears for Marshall. From what I understand getting a third round this year and a third round next year is equal to a second round pick on the draft value chart. If that's the case Miami broke even.

well what about the lack of developing another player and the close top 6 million in dead money this season.
So we traded 2 2nds and 6 million dollars for 2 thirds oh what a deal

Dlockz if you hate Ireland I know he's doing a good job.

2 2nds, ~$26M for 2 1,000 yd seasons, 9 TDs, some punted footballs, a LOT of jersey sales, and 2 3rds.

I read a story right after the trade that if he is suspended, the 6 mil in cap space is freed. Any cap experts care to chime in on this?

Marshall deal is a bummer all the way around. Failed from the start...but you dont think Miami wouldnt have traded him for more had other teams been knocking. If you wanna get real about Marshall he dropped some TDs last year that would have definately helped win us some games. Considering all I gotta do is watch him and not have to work with him, I dont care about his attitude.....but if Im the owner, or coach, or Gm I may not like him. How many games did Marshall change? POSITIVELY. If players like Davis, Dansby, Burnett, and Bush........and slightly Clay arent game changers, then Marshall isnt either.

Hartline made bigger plays then Marshall. Im not hating on Marshall, I personally would have kept him atleast one more year. He may be ready to take the leap much like VDavis.

Yep that will be how we ended up with Odrick instead of Earl Thomas or even JPP

You might as well argue that we always blow 2nd rounders so really Marshall cost nothing

The reason why the Marshall trade sucked is because of one person, Brandon Marshall !!!

Bingo, your the key note speaker for personality disorders, and you end up in a bar fight at 4:00. The phone was not ringing off the hook. The only reason bears had interest is Cutler thinks he can make BM happy. If they win the move will be brilliant if things go bad BM will become toxic again.

funny I don't really remember brandon being toxic here in his time at miami...

I was no math genious... but

2 2nds for brandon marshall =.. 167 catches, 1,228 yards, 9 tds, 2 lost fumbles. ireland was even crafty enough to pick up a 2nd rounder..

2 3rd rounders = no brandon marshall, 0 catches, 0 yards, 0 tds, 0 fumbles

brian hartline< brandon marshall
davone bess<brandon marshall
clyde gates<brandon marshall

2 2nd rounders < 2 3rd rounders

how long do I have to do this before it comes out "even" as some posters have stated?

Not to mention the fact that we now have to use a draft pick on a WR (or two, since it was a need area even before we traded Marshall). As far as I'm concerned, we also lose whatever pick we use on a WR this year in the Marshall trade, which very well could be a 1st.

What? We gave up a lot of value and passed on early 1st round talent to pick up that 2nd. We paid a price to replace it. Without the Marshall trade we would have had two 2nds or stayed early in the first to pick up Earl, JPP, or Dez. It doesn't change that we gave the pick up in the first place. Strange logic.

nobody put a gun to irleands head and made him trade back.. i was pointing out that he did trade back..

if irleand would have given up 2 2nd rounders for marshall and not recouped one of the 2nds it doesn't change my mind.

than we would have had marshall and possibly dez as well, because as you recall dez could have been ours if we wanted him to be.

without trading down, we could have potentially landed any one of the following...

dez bryant, maurkice pouncey, JPP, earl thomas, ryan mathews, mike iupati, seasn witherspoon, jermaine gresham... you name it...

as it stands, we got rid of our best WR, to give us a total of 0 good recievers, and 2 2nd rounders, for 2 3rd rounders...
