Ask any NFL team with a legit #1 WR if theyd trade for 2 #3's for him....see how many come back and say yes.
Yeah, I don't disagree with you. What I find interesting about this thread is the strangely flawed logic it's built on. As if trading down didn't cost us a tremendous amount of value and that we somehow only traded Brandon for one 2nd round pick. Whether or not Ireland should have traded down and passed on who he did is a separate issue.nobody put a gun to irleands head and made him trade back.. i was pointing out that he did trade back..
if irleand would have given up 2 2nd rounders for marshall and not recouped one of the 2nds it doesn't change my mind.
than we would have had marshall and possibly dez as well, because as you recall dez could have been ours if we wanted him to be.
without trading down, we could have potentially landed any one of the following...
dez bryant, maurkice pouncey, JPP, earl thomas, ryan mathews, mike iupati, seasn witherspoon, jermaine gresham... you name it...
as it stands, we got rid of our best WR, to give us a total of 0 good recievers, and 2 2nd rounders, for 2 3rd rounders...

Hartline made more plays than marshall????? Ive heard it all now..

Addition by subtraction -
Fault the FO for trying too hard to bring in that top 5 WR - expedience and trying to hrry the process will rarely prove itself over "drafting well" - now we are even further behind without those two 2nds and we blew a number of early picks in recent years - Pat White pick was atrocious
Randy Moss - Oakland to to NE in prime for a 4th
Exactly. That pair of 3's salvaged something from what could have been a total disaster. Like bringing many of your valuables upstairs from the ground floor of your house before the floodwater hits. Acquiring Marshall was a panic move we could have passed on if our drafts, especially the high picks, hadn't sucked for so long. (Patrick Turner, Pat White.) We needed firepower and he was a known risk. It ended like a lot of people here thought it would.
More BIG Time plays. In no way do I think Hartline is better then Marshall. I know we took a big hit losing Marshall, but at the same time he is replaceable.
In the two years, I can remember more big catches from Hartline than Marshall. Hartline is the best sideline catcher in the NFL. He isnt a number 1 but he is a helluva 4th rounder.
He had a very similiar college career. Was never the Buckeyes best but always made the big play.
Trading BM when we did was a panic move...which is why we were robbed.
I know we traded two second round picks for Marshall, but Ireland got a second round pick back through trading. So Marshall only cost us one second round pick. Miami wanted a second round pick from the Bears for Marshall. From what I understand getting a third round this year and a third round next year is equal to a second round pick on the draft value chart. If that's the case Miami broke even.
Sure it was--because the next story about BM was about to break. Robbed in terms of talent/potential, not in terms of the overall picture where you consider everything. Nobody was desperate to be the next Miami Dolphins or Denver Broncos and have to put up with his ****. We got more than we had a right to expect, given the circumstances. Only Cutler and BM wanting to work together again saved us from getting nothing at all.
Ireland owes that guy a beer. Hopefully, we get something out of those picks or it gets even worse.
Just because you "remember" more plays from Hartline doesn't make it fact.
I'm sure Hartline will have so many more big plays this year without BM's double teams.
