Miami actually came out even with Marshall

the next big story that broke about marshall actually happened quite a while ago.. he was never arrested as a dolphin, and hasn't been arrested still.

i haven't read a single thing following up the brandon marshall incident, and the league has taken no action yet... ( im also on record as saying he wont' be disciplined)... we'll see how that pans out..

so we trade our only legitimate offesnsive weapon for 2 3rd round picks...

so we are probably talking guys like silatolu, iloka, harrison smith, zebrie sanders, kelechi osemele,... none of which will catch 80 balls, score touchdowns, or draw double teams...

We didn't come out even, but it's ok. We got rid of a headcase, and that's worth taking a hit.

No...in terms of overall picture too. Did Pitt trade Big Ben after his last little incident? No...and if they were to get rid of him...the absolute worst time would have been when the story broke.

After all these FA WRs that were clearly not in BMs league went for ridiculous amounts, we could have gotten a lot more...especially come draft time.

Getting rid of BM was bad....not getting good value was terrible...not replacing him with anything is retarded, and if you don't think so, t won't take long to realize it when the season starts.

I understand people's disappointment that it didn't work out for BM here, but it didn't and wasn't going to. We didn't bring Philbin in to play sandlot football.

Nobody wanted BM. This was no seller's market--just Chicago. Getting him was bad, having to dump him was bad, getting a pair of threes considering the market was pretty damn good, but admittedly not replacing him with anything was a fail. Even if you can't replace his talent with one guy, it would have been nice to bring in a FA WR to bump the our "worst" starter off the roster. Minimizing the loss by any amount is better than doing nothing. Apparently, the value by Ireland's standards wasn't there by that point. The Fins made their bed when they signed the guy, they can't cry about it now.

There is a highlight reel of all our WRs last year. Marshall is top of the line WR...Im not denying that or saying Hartline is better, but Hartline catches almost everything. Marshall drops alot. It sucks we need more WR, for sure. Would be nice to find a solid 1 and a guy to push Hartline.

We will be crying this season.

I see no reason we shouldn't have just kept marshall than. why take the $6mil cap hit...we were going to revamp the entire offense from my understanding for peyton.. we couldn't find a way to effectively use brandon marshall? he hadn't been arrested as a phin, and had not been in trouble the league as a phin... there was no reason to trade him for peanuts IMO.. bad move by management as per usual..If I am to believe that this regime is so friggin smart, and the next big thing, than why can't they find a way to utilize our single best offensive weapon in a way other than garnering two picks in the 70's, in two seperate drafts?

9 TDs in two years is run-of-the-mill. Fasano had the same and Bess had 8 in those same two years

I know we traded two second round picks for Marshall, but Ireland got a second round pick back through trading. So Marshall only cost us one second round pick. Miami wanted a second round pick from the Bears for Marshall. From what I understand getting a third round this year and a third round next year is equal to a second round pick on the draft value chart. If that's the case Miami broke even.

I was beginning to think I was the only crazy one.

While I am by no means in agreement with the trade I find it so comical that half the people complaining about the trade are probably the same who were bitching about how we overpaid him after all the dropped passes this last season. Let it go people....Marshall is gone. Lastly, I disagree that Miami could have gotten better value IF the off field stuff is true. Just because the fins were stupid enough to give up 2 2nd does not mean everyone else is. Marshall was a problem off the field= dramtically less value in trade.

you can count me out of the group whining about how much he got paid... I thought it was common sense that more drops could be expected when your tops in the league in targets..

your probably right about trade value... but my opinion is, brandon marshall still on the team with 80 catches, and 1,000+ yards and 6 tds, is better production than two third round picks..

heres a look at our incredible moxy in finding 3rd round studs...

2011... no pick
2010.. john jerry
2009.. pat turner
2008.. kendall langford
2007.. lorenzon booker
2006.. derek hagan
2005.. channing crowder
2004.. none
2003.. wade smith/ taylor whitley... ( 2 picks... great selections.. no?)
2002.. seth mckinney
2001.. travis minor/morlon greenwood..( 2 3rds again... we have a great history with this 1-2 combo)
2000.. ben kelly
1999.. gery reugamer

shall I continue... obviously I went a ways back.. but even since jeff ireland has at the very least had his hands in the draft process... we have ONE guy from teh third round still on the roster.. and last year we gave away our third to move up for a daniel thomas when we could have had a number of other RBs...

when he is cut in a year or 2 from the bears for his own stupity it will be the dolpins getting the last laugh
