Okay let me start off by saying that I do talk to some people in NFL circles but I would not say I have these great sources like everyone else always claims. These thoughts are clearly my own BUT after talking with a few of my friends it seems that my oppinion is shared by a few people that could know more than they are willing to say.

This regime is very scared of being made a fool again. Ireland who is from the Parcells thought tree, likes to keep things really quiet and the last few times things were public and went bad it really made the whole franchise look like a joke. Ross made the mistake by saying Manning is his guy and Ireland is doing everything he can to show otherwise in order to save face if this goes bad. Talks between Miami and Manning have already taken place( which has been mentioned a few times here and there but never "reported"). They already have the feeling of getting him or not but they refuse to comment either way.

If they can do this, either way they win. 1. Manning joins and they are the "smart team that swooped in and stole him". 2. They get Flynn or a rookie or another free agent or Moore and they can claim they got who they wanted all along without looking like they swung and missed on Manning. Personally I think this is going down great, we can't afford anymore PR hits. The more we swing and miss the more we slide down free agents lists if they value front office. If we end up with Manning our "Meddling and clueless" Owner and front office have turned us around and stole the big prize that they missed the last two times.

Lets all hope for the best here. If you want Manning hope they we are setting up to steal him quietly and smartly. If you don't want Manning, hope we stay low and out so we can try to sell the QB we start next year as the one we wanted all along. Most of all lets all hope together, no matter which side of the fence you are on, that our franchise is starting to play the game the way they have wanted to successfully. They have pulled hidden moves a few times already but never managed to keep the big ones quiet. If they are doing it with this one either way it is a major show of growth in them.

If "we" don't want Manning that proves they are just as inept in my opinion.

I think this is probably a fairly accurate account of what is taking place. I too think there were talks before Manning left Florida. Miami may get the bottom of the inning to win it. He may have visited those other teams to see where the market was. I mean, could Peyton Manning really choose the Cardinals over Miami?....Is Denver THAT much farther ahead that he would play in the cold over South Florida?...

Either Ross is supremely confident or we have other plans..IMHO.

Excellent Post. Makes a lot of sense unlike much of the sensational gibberish floating around here and twitter.

i agree. i think the fo is playing this very hush hush so they dont look like clowns again. but for some reason i feel like we have something up our sleeves

Couldn't agree more with your thoughts. They are handling this perfectly. If they don't get him, they have a backup plan and they won't have egg on their faces. Smart.

And let's not forget, there will probably be 5 franchise 1st round QBs next year.

good post, covering ourselves against all possible outcomes....this is the way to go about this manning situation. For me this is either the phins are further along with manning or they aren't that interested...

Personally I think the absence of Condon from the meetings with the Cardinals and Broncos is the key and a lot of major media outlets are dismissing that fact...I wouldnt be surprised if some sort of deal was worked out while Peyton was in Miami before he was officially released...but like someone said this is a game he is playing to try and circumvent tampering allegations...I agree though...Either way the way the Phins are playing the game is excellent...the way the Harbough and Fisher things were publicly displayed made our front office look bad...no matter what really happened...I guess we will see in about 48 hours or so

plane trip to NYC? hush hush trip out of town, nobody knows nothing and nobody knows where they will be in NYC.

This is what I've been thinking is happening as well. The Phins FO is beginning to give me confidence they know what they are doing.
