I'm not sure if this has been posted before or mentioned before. I tend to avoid most "what if" scenarios.

But I was thinking. We have developed a good relationship (seemingly) with the chargers over the past few years. We got lemon and they were willing to take Feeley and his salary off our hands (they probably just wanted the pick). Next year they'll likely dump feeley and keep one of the two top guys.

Now I would like to keep Lemon (especially after hearing Marino's sound bite on him this past Sunday; but could we be setting the groundwork for a trade back involving Lemon and a pick for one of the top guys?

Again if this was mentioned in the past I apologize, I usually don't go through alot of those threads.

Can portions of reported salaries disappear when a player is traded? Curious.

Yeah, this is a theory a few people have including some people in the media. I think it definitely could be. But what did Marino say about Lemon on Sunday?

On CBS they were talking about the trade but mainly focusing on the fact that Rivers or Brees would be gone next year and most likely so would Feely.
Marino Buzzed in and said that the forgotten and unseen element in this trade was that the Dolphins got "this young kid Lemon who has a lot of potential and upside" and we need to keep an eye on him.

I found it really interesting, especially since when Marino had the short stint with Miami, Roethlisburger was #1 on his list and Rivers #2. He watched both work out more than once.

Wow, and I would love to have 5 million dollars in my bank account, and those two things are just as likely to happen

Yeah I don't see that happening.

But it is odd the amount of trades we've had with one team in the past couple of years. You just don't usually see that. And most trades seem to work out well for both teams.

yeah, it seems a good relationship...I hope we can get rivers for a plain 1st, thats the price I judge fair

I think the evident good relation between the franchises makes us frontrunners for Rivers. Unless Saban gets really cautious about what to offer and someone else offers the farm (Jets maybe?).

That's what all the buzz is about Lemon? Come on, "potential and upside" is what created this Lemon craze? The Dolphins needed to get rid of AJ Feeley and Sage is a likely goner too. I wouldn't be surprised if Gus was on the hotseat as well. Saban had an opportunity to get a young player with some upside who could possibly slide into the number 2 slot next year if he works out. If not the team really had nothing to lose but a bust with a large contract and a negligable late round pick. If the Chargers felt Lemon could start for the Dolphins in 2006 they would have asked for a lot more than what they got.

I think the "buzz" online is different. Marino went out of his way to metion it. It doesn't mean Lemon will amount to anything. But I think Marino is a very good evaluator of talent. And for him to go out of his way to bring it up is only positive.

And I don't know that he'll be a starter or not, but there is much more upside to this trade from a QB standpoint, age standpoint, potential standpoint and salary cap standpoint. Especially if you compare it to the original Feeley trade
