Miami awarded 4 guys

Apparently newly acquired Eddie Jackson is injured and that is why he was waived. I got the list from the NFL.com "looking for work" section

Carolina

DT Lorenzo Alexander, G Joe Berger, WR Aaron Boone, FB Casey Cramer, TE Dan Curley, T John Doty, DT Atiyyah Ellison, CB Marcus Floyd (INJ), DT Eddie Freeman, CB Will Hampton, DT Charles Hill, WR Efrem Hill, DE Isaac Hilton, CB Eddie Jackson (INJ), T Ben Johnson, LB Bryan Knight, WR Hugo Lira, OL Tupe Peko, P Tom Rouen, LB Sean Tufts

I'm wondering if the team is thinking about trading Morris for CB depth. These moves seem to point to it. Minor would make it just as a change of pace back whereas I can't see Morris being with 2 other Rb's also noted for their between the tackles running.

Great pick-up with Eckel. He played very well for us this pre-season, but I have to ask, where will you use him? I was under the impression the RB was the least of your concerns, as you're stacked there.

I think he''ll suffer the same fate as he would have with us, no real game time. Anyway, good pick-up.

Moore stays because of special teams imo. Edwards couldn't make the club and with the new schemes Saban is putting in, we will likely see a safety line up at dime when/if we use the dime. That gives us two starters, a nickle, and one reserve. Too thin for a whole season but if today tells us nothing else it tells us Saban/Mueller see the 2005 Phins as a work in progress. Also with Poole on PUP, they may have reason to believe he will be ready by week 6-8 and are willing to throw the dice for the first few games. We have a bye week in there so who knows????

yeah, why did we pick up another fullback?

Our starting FB isn't the greatest to begin with. So he might beat him out. I still think it's also a sign Morris is going to be traded.

I also expect Richardson to make the practice squad just in case. So he will still be with the team practicing. Same with Alex Holmes.

No Eckel is really really good.

I'm liking the Eckel pick up. He was a beast at Navy, and could be a good H-Back. Don't know much about the other guys.

I'm guessing if Saban is gonna take a look at a CB it will be Middlebrooks. He's 6'1, alot younger than TBuck and Taylor, and still has alot of potential (One of many Denver CBs to get lost on their roster others being Wells,O'Neal, and Herndon.) And for those of you saying you don't want him because he got cut by the 9ers, he never really had a good shot of making the team (Denver traded him because they were paying him alot of money after drafting him first, and SanFran likes they're young CBs).

I would look at Middlebrooks, no doubt. He is young, a former 1st round pick, he is big, and quite frankly we could use some depth at corner.

The only question I have is whether he could realistically learn the D quick enough to play and be effective in 6 days?

I truly believe Mike Shanahan gave up on this kid too early.. similar to the way he let go of Deltha O'Neil, another CB former 1st rounder, who turned out to be a pretty decent player for the Bengals. It also doesnt help Willie that the Browncos added 3 CBs on Day 1 of the draft...

middlebrooks is nothing but average. he's a body but we may need some so he might be a good choice. he's serviceable at least

I would feel relatively comfortable with Madison, Howard, Daniels, Middlebrooks, Jackson.

Also some nice young players for the future if Daniels/Middlebrooks/Jackson pan out... and dont forget about Poole.

And like I said, in Denver he got stuck behind their 3 first picks from this years draft (can you imagine cutting one of them AND Clarett? Shanahan would be toast), and they DID give up on Deltha O'Neil too early. He has potential, and who better to teach him then Nick and Mel.

I must have bet on Navy 20 times in the last few years. That run oriented offense mangles college teams who aren't prepared for it. Eckel is a winner; smart, tough and relentless with just enough talent.

Josh Shaw impressed early in preseason with his motor, but in the last couple of preseason games it was clear he isn't the answer, even for a backup. More talented than Romero but a guy you'll always try to replace. It didn't take us long.

Our roster blows at the bottom. The last 10 or 12 guys are mush. You have to take advantage with hundreds of guys suddenly available and only one team trump carding you on the pecking order.

unfotunately though, we now lose that edge, because waivers are over. Everybody released yesterday is now a FA
