I cant believe were still in the divisonal race at 3-5. Assuming the Colts win tomorrow, theres no reason to believe we cant beat the Pats at home. We've been in nearly every game this year, and have beat good teams in Denver and Carolina. It would be nice to be 4-4, but by beating the Pats next week, we could be 4-5 with a divisional tie. Plus, our schedule is a bit lighter than the first half excluding the Chargers and Patsies again.

9-7 or 10-6 could win this division. Which means from this point we have to go around 6-2. Looking at our schedule I think it's possible, why not.

New England W (we have to to kick start this thing)
at Cleveland W (should win, if we lose here, season is dead)
at Oakland W (their struggling too, tough, but we have a good history here)
Buffalo W (were at home and Ronnie will be out to make up for his fumble)
at San Diego L (at San Diego, little chance, but an upset would be huge)
NY Jets W (at home against Fiedler ball, should win)
Tennesee W (another struggling team)
at New England ? (this has my stomach ill already)

So going into the Pats game we should be 9-6. Should as in of course you never know, but this team is talented enough to do so.

Of course were already in a position of putting our hopes on another teams ill will, the Pats. So let's take a look at their schedule.

Indianapolis L (it all starts here, a Pats win will sink us)
at Miami L (a win kick starts this thing for us)

Now this is all what if's and such, but I dont think its as far fetched as some think. The Colts are due to beat the Pats, and for the first time they are the better overall team. But then we need to go in and upset the Pats, we did it last year with a teriible team, and this year we will be riding the whole Saban v. Belichick wave. So if the Pats lose twice here, they are at 4-5, as are we. Lets take a look at the rest of their schedule.

New Orleans W
at Kansas City L
NY Jets W
at Buffalo W
Tampa Bay W
at NY Jets W
Miami ?

The only loss I can imagine from the rest of their schedule is KC at KC. This means that when it comes down to the last game against Miami, both teams should be going in 9-6, making the game for the divisional crown.

Now this is all again rides first on a Pats loss tomorrow and a Miami win next week. So we should focus on the next games, and thats it. Two Pat wins sink our hopes and then I think we can start talking draft legitamately.

But I really believe the Colts can win tomorrow and we can find a way to beat the Pats next week. If this happens, the doors open wide for us. We all believd this team would grow as the season went, well now is the time for the big step in that growth.

And what do you know, as much as we hate it, the Pats once again control our destiny. I know a lot of people are more concerned about the 72' Dolphins record, well, I have faith the Jags, Chargers, or Bengals can beat the Colts later in the seaon. Miami is stil in this thing, we've beat good teams this year already, no reason to think we can't do it again.

Optimistic, that's for sure.

I don't think we can beat NE at the moment. I do think we can beat some of those teams on there and finish up 8-8 if we get a few breaks.

We are too incosistent I think for any of us to make a good prediction on where we will finish up at the end of the season.

I have had alot of optimism for the fins this year but here lately my confidence has been shaken in them. I really don't think we can beat the Pats next week. I'm not gonna look ahead, this team can beat anyone on our schedule and can be beaten by any team. There is no gimme games on our schedule.

I know it's optimistic, a reasonable analysis. But like I said, I think that the next two weeks say it all. Two Pat wins, and I give up 95% hope of the division, this is to me our last stand at a realistic shot at this thing. This is my last stand of optimism this seaon, this scenario. I wouldn't propose it if we had not beat the Broncos and Panthers, and had not shot ourselves in the foot so much, particularly today and the Bills game.

Yeah, agreed.

I think we just need to get back to Wanny ball, which is hard for me to say.

Run Ronnie and Ricky and throw in a few PA passes. Throw it about 15-20 times a game and run the ball 40-50 times with R & R.

The O-line is playing good and we played some smash-mouth football against a good but not great defense at times today.

After watching them last sunday night against Buff.... they look very beatable.

I 'could' happen....

Both the Pats and Fins have easily exposable secondaries. Now the question is will it be Brady who exposes us with his great touch, smart decisions, and MVP-like play? Or will it be Gus Frerrotte with his trademark overthrows, poor decisions even with protection, lack of vision and shocking completion percentage???

How could you possibly think Miami will win SIX of thier next eight games? That is really stretching things. Miami has lost 4 of their last 5 games now. They can't even put back to back wins together. Granted they beat two good teams (Denver & Carolina), but that was early in this season.

Miami has ALOT of older guys on defense. It seems to me that they are wearing down now. They can only play at full speed sporadically. They dominate a game, then they lose a couple games, play well for one game, lose a few more, etc. That is the pattern.

On offense, do you really think that a team QB'd by Frerotte will make the playoffs? Is that possible? He is a backup QB. On top of that, he is an OLDER backup QB. He will be sporadic too. He will make a few good throws in a game, and then he will screw up in the next three games. It is similar to the pattern on defense.

Nobody in Miami is getting any younger. Playing conservative at this point is a waste of everybody's time. Miami needs to be playing to win now AND playing the guys that will be the future of the team. Playing the same players every week will give you the same results. Miami needs to find a spark. That usually comes from changes in the starting lineup.

Somebody on this board said that this season is a "16 game preseason" for Miami. I think that is a very accurate assessment.

stop talking division! this team is not at the calibur of NE. this team is a mediocre team that will beat bad teams. if they played Denver or Carolina now, they would get their butts handed to them. it's time to see what the roster has, because we wont be in the playoffs

If Linehan somehow "gets it" and starts hammering opposing defenses with Ricky and Ronnie to the tune of 40 total carries split between the two of them, I believe Miami can win a LOT more games.

you are out of your mind, we are not going to win anything but the damned cellar this year. We have yet to beat even ONE of our divisional foes, Gussie continues to underachieve, and our dumbas- O-co-ordinator plays to our weaknesses.

I think we will beat New England thi Sunday, but I did not realize the rest of their schedule was a cakewalk. I could see them losing on Sunday and then winning every game for the rest of the season

I would have thought all this talk of "still in the divisional race" would have stopped by now. Although it's great to see all this optimism, I don't see us finishing any higher than 8-8 (beating Tenn, Cleve, Buff, NYJ, and Oakland or NE). That is probably a stretch. Even if we miraculously made the playoffs, we wouldn't get very far. It's time to sit the players that won't be here next year and see what some of the youngsters can do.

There is no question in my mind that we will win out the rest of te season. Yesterday just may turn out to be a blessing. Watch and see. We finish 11-5 and win the SB.
As crappy as we played yesterday, we still almost beat the Falcons. We're the best damn team in the league. No, I am not being sarcastic. We ARE the best team in the league and they will show it from here on out.
