Miami could go Defense at #9

Wouldn't upset me. I'd be perfectly happy with Landry, Houston, or Adams.

If Quinn isn't there I hope we do go Defense. Levi isn't worth the early pick IMO.

Landry looked really good at the combine.

Adams will likely gone. I have been saying all along that I think Landry is probably the best value pick at #9. I think Calvin Johnson is a sure thing, and Landry is at the top of the next list (close to a sure thing).

Earlier on one of the boards there was a knock on Allen Branch, someone said that his work ethic was questionable. I relayed that message to my cousin who is a child hood friend of his and that message got back to him. They called me last night to log on to my epsn insder becase they thought that is where the info was taken from. I don't remember who posted that particular tidbit but does anyone know where the info came from? Sounds like he did well but it looks like they are saying he will not fall to us.

wow bold prediction. One that anyone could make. Especially if management is trying to get one particular player and teams start thinking we will go defense. I would suspect that everything and anything is on the table and there are no absolutes. Not rocket science. Its early. Combines are for idiots. You can either play football or you cannot. combines only measure certain things.
Speed does not measure ability on the football field. Speed does say that person has a higher chance than the next guy at landing a starting job. But combines only verify certain things already known.

heck, I hope we do go defense!!!! Because I think quinn is a few years from being able to help anybody. so drafting him @ #9 is silly. we need wr, db or oline with our #9 pick. we can get a qb later in the draft.

But what's the most realistic scenario for Miami? ''Ginn or [19-year-old Louisville defensive tackle] Amobi Okoye,'' McShay said. ``[Michigan defensive tackle] Alan Branch helped himself but could fall to nine. I don't think Quinn will fall. If I were Miami, I wouldn't want Quinn to fall to me. I'm not getting better anywhere else if I draft him, and you would have so much money invested in quarterback. And it's a P.R. nightmare if you pass on him.''

I agree with what he says about us maybe going defense, but as far as that comment, I disagree. If you are able to replace a more consistant player to any position on the team, the only position that gets us to the playoffs if it had been more consistant is QB.

Same as I can not guarantee that Brady Quinn will be a Franchise QB, he can not guarantee that one of the other players will also be successful, or that Daunte will be able to come back.

If all things were to become equal (success wise) with the top 10 players in this years draft, the player that would make the most impact with Miami would be Quinn, not an O-linemen, a once in a lifetime WR, a spectacular RB, or any defensive player......Quinn.

Laron Landry has been a great safety at LSU for four years now. He would have been a top 10 pick last year, it's amazing that he might not be a top 10 pick this year. He's absolutly the best safety in this draft, hands down.

I looked on ESPN Insider and couldn't find anything about Branch's work ethic. What I did find that was interesting is that Kiper has Branch all the way down at #20 on his Big Board.

Well he was outplayed by Reggie Nelson last year. I think Landry will be a great safety and I would probably take him in front of Nelson if I had to make an unbiased decision. But it is a very difficult choice between the two, and it would be easy to make the case for Nelson; so I think to make it sound like he is in a league of his own at the postition is a bit inaccurate.

The more I read about Levi Brown the more I think he's the man.

Houston would be nice too. OLT & a #1 CB are Miami's 2 biggest needs.

Ideally, I hope there's a run on DB's and either St L or Carolina wants to trade up. Then another run on DL or DB's occurs and Denver panics allowing the phins to slide down more and pick up some additional picks this year & 1st day pick next year.
