After 10 games the Dolphins had committed 16 turnovers on offense/special teams.

The defense had held the opponents to an incredible 16 points off those turnovers and led the league in that category.
They only allowed 1 TD and 3 FG's following the 16 turnovers.

When #17 came against Denver with the tip int to Landry the bottom fell out.
We gave up a TD and ended up giving up 5 TD's on the last 7 turnovers of the season.
The ability to get off the field and mitigate the turnover disappeared.

We ended the season ranked 9th in giveaway points with 54 points allowed off 23 turnovers.
Seattle leads the league with 38. We were right there and then it all fell apart.

In the end we gave up 6 TD's and 4 FG's following 23 turnovers.

How about their response to offensive touchdown drives? Particularly those that gave us the lead. I'm not sure I'd want to see the stats on those!

Defensive Responses to offensive TD drives that give us the lead.

#1 Oak, Wallace catches TD in 2nd, Defense forces punt and keeps lead for rest of game.
#2 GB, Wallace catches TD pass in 4th, Defense forces Packers to FG and returns ball to offense with 4 point lead.
#3 Chi, Clay catches TD in 1st, Defense forces punt and keeps the lead for rest of game.
#4 SD, Clay catches TD in 1st, defense forces punt and keeps lead for the rest of game.
#5 Det, Wallace catches TD in 3rd. Defense forces Lions to FG and return ball to offense with tie game.
#6 Buf, Gibson catches TD in 3rd, Defense forces safety and keeps lead for rest of game.
#7 Den, Thomas TD run in 1st, Defense forces Bronocos to FG and returns ball to offense with 4 point lead.
#8 Min, Miller TD run in the 3rd, Defense forces Viking to FG and return the ball to offense with 1 point lead.
#9 Jets, Thomas TD run in 1st, Defense allows Jets TD and lose the lead by 4
#10, Jets Clay catches Td in 2nd, End of half, Defense stops Jets on downs in 3rd and return ball to offense with 3 point lead.

So there it is, 10 times this season the offense has scored a TD to take the lead on an opponent. Only once on the ensuing possession has the defense allowed a TD and given the lead back. The other 9 times they held strong. 5 of those they did not allow a score. A lot better than you thought or you would have never mentioned it I bet.

Dude, the defense is garbage. Stop with your tirade.

32 PPG in the last 6 games. That's all I need to know.

So 50% of those post td possessions ended in points for the opponent. That doesn't sound good. How does that compare with the rest of the league. That's one of those stats where a frame of reference is really neede.

Wanna explain allowing Geno Smith to have a perfect passer rating? You have any stats to explain that?

Thread translation : I'm always gonna look for ways to make excuses for the defense and bash the qb and offense when I can.

It would take a lot of research to do all the teams. I would suspect 50% is about average. If a team doesn't respond to a TD you can get a blowout real quickly. The 1 TD allowed is really good.

Now if we look at what we do with 2 score lead it won't quite as impressive. But I just supplied the info that was asked for.

What does that have to do with topic of thread? I start a thread showing how the d was doing great facing turnovers and how it fell apart in the end. You accuse me of attacking qb and offense. duh!

Offense failed to give the defense adequate halftime peptalks.
