Proud rookies reveal signings

BY DAVID J. NEAL
Although the Dolphins won't officially announce free agent rookie signings until later this week, some of those couldn't wait to spread the news of their signing with the Dolphins.Washington State defensive end Mkristo Bruce, a second-team All-American, told Cougfan.com. Alabama-Birmingham offensive tackle Julius Wilson told The Bradenton Herald. Arkansas guard Stephen Parker told The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas. Southern Oregon wide receiver Gabe Hatchett told his hometown Douglas County Record-Courier. Montana cornerback Tuff Harris told The Missoulian of Missoula, Mont.
The signings of Iowa linebacker Ed Miles and Tala Esera were reported by The Associated Press.
Esera brings the University of Hawaii rookie training-camp count to three. The first two were center Samson Satele, the Dolphins' third-round pick, and fullback Reagan Mauia, whom the Dolphins took in the sixth round.
''That was not a part of the plan, but at the same time we found out that Hawaii does produce some good players and they like playing,'' Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller said Sunday after the NFL Draft. `` June Jones has done a great job coaching them up over there. There's also a coach on the offensive side [ Wes Suan] that actually coached me in college, so we had a pretty good connection on what kind of kids these guys were.
''Who knows? Maybe strength in numbers they'll feed off each other,'' Muller said. ``It's a good group and they're close. They're very close. As you know, the culture is one of passion and caring.
``They bring some of that. Those are good team building identity things that we want with our team.''
TRAYLOR SCOPED
The Dolphins announced Monday afternoon that defensive tackle Keith Traylor had arthroscopic removal of loose materials in his left ankle April 18.
Knee problems kept Traylor, 37, out of two games last season and limited his practice time.

There was a DT from West Mississippi C.C. that ran a 4.9 in the 40, weighed around 350 pounds and can do back flips i think his last name was Thomas. Does anyone know where he went to?

Thats Walter Thomas and as far as i know hes still out there. You gotta look at a guy who is 6-5 over 350lbs and can do backflips.

Hope we sign him!

Wow...Geoff Pope ran a 4.29 40, that's impressive. Like the Julius Wilson signing, some had him graded as a mid-rounder. Mkristo Bruce is another nice pick up.

Julius Wilson (T) 6-4 313 Alabama-Birmingham

hes from southeast high school here in bradenton. i didnt get to play agaisnt him though cuz i was on JV that year. but he was a beast. also, one of my boys was helping him train for the combine where he ran a 5.5 or something like that. he said he messed up his time and when he clocked him after, he ran a 5.0-5.1 range. so who knows. not that 40 times really matter, specially for OLine, just a thought

He is a Saint...

He is listed as a signed free agent on their website.
