Miami Dolphins 2014 schedule

No offense buddy, but I'm in no mood to argue with a fool about gunfights and boxing. If you can't understand how having no previous knowledge of our offense could be a disadvantage for a defense trying to prepare for us (which is an extremely simple concept for most football fans), then you should probably move on to another sport.

Yes, and the oversimplification of this game is a prevalent issue on these boards. Last year we were subjected to numerous posts by people claiming insight into this game that many of the rest of us didn't possess. They told us we were silly to worry about the lack of talent on the offensive line. That our line would be just fine. The Martin was going to be okay at LT and we had very little about which to worry.

When I made the case that the LT was arguably the 2nd most important position on the team, quite a few very knowledgeable folks made sure to tell me I was wrong and that the position isn't really all that important, and that in today's game, all you really need is a body to get in the way and slow down the oncoming rush. All those knowledgeable folks were very sure of themselves.

Some very knowledgeable people were predicting the Dolphins to take the division. Brady was too old, they said. Tannehill was going to progress in leaps and bounds. We had predictions of 12-4, 11-5, many were sure there was no way we'd win less than 10 games.

I've been listening to the same bs from knowledgeable fans in one form or another for a decade or so. So forgive me if I don't buy into your homerific and very knowledgeable insight into this very noteworthy advantage that you bring into the spotlight.

Here's what my unsophisticated knowledge of this game tells me:
Teams usually put in new offensive systems because their old offensive system sucked.
Usually the new offensive system doesn't result in drastically better offenses because more often than not, the problem isn't the system, the problem is the players.
Mediocre players executing a new system usually still look mediocre.
Ours is not an offense laden with an abundance of talent.
Until we significantly raise the talent level on our offense, we're going to continue to struggle.

I'd love for the Fins to prove me wrong, but until I see it, I'm not believing the same hype we hear every year. A new OC bringing in a new system doesn't translate into much of an advantage going up against the most dominant team in our division for the past decade.

Compared to Sherman it should make a big difference.. Is it going to make us a dynasty... Hell no....

Any advantage gained by the offense being new to the Patriots is lost in it being new to us. Not that I think the offense is likely to be all that "new", anyway. I feel bad for anyone who's hanging their optimism for this season on that particular branch.

In any case the last I checked we beat the Patriots the last time we played them and used a smart gameplan to do it. Hopefully we don't try to go in there and reinvent the wheel. They're still far and away the best team in the division but we actually match up better against them than we do against the Bills or the Jets, even though those teams are "worse."

Beating the Pats in week 1 will motivate us to beat the Bills? I seem to remember the very real possibility of a playoff spot not being enough to motivate us to beat the Bills.

Sheesh. With your attitude, why even play the game? It's a new year and we have some new coaches and players. Hopefully, with Hickey, the draft will be more fruitful than it has been in the past. You can be negative if you want, but I am choosing to go into the season with a positive outlook.

Because in some year the homers are going to be right and I'm going to wrong and then we'll all be much happier.

What you call negative, I call realistic. To each his own.
