[h=2]The offense was anything but explosive in 2015 for the Miami Dolphins. That’s a big reason Adam Gase was hired as head coach, and he has a plan in mind to fix it.[/h] Chiefs among those steps involves the passing game, and most notably getting quarterback Ryan Tannehill to use all of his receiving options. A big reason why the team struggled to sustain drives was a lopsided number of passes directed at Jarvis Landry. Granted, he’s a Pro Bowl talent who demands the ball, but in order to attack NFL defenses one must be as unpredictable as possible. That can’t be done if everybody including the fans knows which way the ball is going.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald believes Gase has one receiver in particular he wants use more often.

[h=4]More from NFL Mocks[/h]

“Only six active NFL players have a higher career yards-per-catch average than Kenny Stills (16.5), and Dolphins coach Adam Gase said he “definitely” wants to get him involved more after he was targeted just 63 times last season (compared with 165 for Jarvis Landry).
Stills says that excites him and “the numbers don’t lie” about Gase’s offenses.
But the chemistry must improve with Ryan Tannehill. Though a bunch of Stills’ targets were difficult deep routes (and that must be taken into account with this stat), he caught only 42.8 percent of passes thrown to him, compared to 70.4 for Rishard Matthews (now with Tennessee), 66.7 for Landry, 50.9 for DeVante Parker and 50 for Jordan Cameron.
Stills had only two drops last season, so many of the incomplete passes were errant throws by Tannehill. Gase has been impressed with Stills so far this offseason.”

Surprised to see only two drops for Stills last year.....felt like more, memory must be bad (it is)

Stills was phenomenal before he linked up with tannehill.

Hopfully Gase can get him productive again.

Incredible to think some reporters were impressed the Phins were going to have Stills as a deep threat. Then Philbin and Lazer decide that they aren't going to use him because what possible sense would that really make to help the offense

The force fed WR screens to Landry last year was awful. If Gase can consistently open up the middle for Landry look out

Landry, parker, stills, caroo, grant, Cameron...we're gonna have mismatches all over the place! And a coach that knows how to take advantage! Scary!

Wow are you guys going to fall for this again. I'm tired of hearing about what we can expect. Let your play do the talking from now on. Remember how we kept hearing about Tannehill and how well he performed during preseason only to suck during the season. I want results no more talking. I hope they prove me wrong but only time will tell.

Makes sense to distribute the ball to a number of receivers. Miami has a lot of talent there with Parker also poised to have a big year and the additions of Carroo and Grant.

On paper the improvement at wide receiver looks nice, but I still think finding balance with the running game is the key to the Dolphins season. That and converting the short-yardage running plays.

you mean 'until he hooked up with Philbin"
You can't blame Philbin for the offense. That was Lazor's domain. I do agree that our offense set Stills up to fail in how it was designed, though. Absolutely. We built our offense around short passes to Jarvis Landry and essentially tried to use Stills to 'clear space.'
