The fans that have been around for a while know that the Dolphins have struggled to have a core nucleus of players to build around since the days of Dan Marino. There was a point in time where the future looked bright with Ricky Williams carrying the offense while Jason Taylor anchored the defense, but we all unfortunately know how that prematurely ended.

If you look around at the teams who have consistently been successful over the years, you’ll notice that they either have an elite quarterback or they have a group of players who they’ve built around to form a sense of identity – this has clearly been lacking in South Beach.

Brighter days are certainly ahead for us. Let's please extend Landry so we can keep the heart and soul of this young nucleus. Pay the man whatever he wants!

They will get Landry done. He's next in line. The man is the heart and soul and fire of the team so he has to get paid. He's one of the premier slot receivers in the NFL. There is a lot of talent on the roster right now. There are holes but the team has taken a mighty leap forward since the arrival of Coach Gase, who is the best Coach we've had since Don Shula imo. I rated Gase above JJ and Saban because neither one of them brought us Play Off victories and both quit us like little girls. They both ran away when it got tough, am I supposed to respect that? This offense feels like it's ready to score some points this year. I think Julius Thomas is going to be a very major difference maker this season. Tannehill was just starting to get hooked up with Keller when he went down. That was a severe set back but now we have a guy that's an elite TE who know how to skillfully produce in a Gase offense and score a ton of TDs. RT drops back to throw and his targets are Landry, Stills, Parker, Thomas or a back like Drake out of the backfields. That a ton of weaponry to deploy. We have a RB who is one of the best in the NFL and should only improve this coming season. After the draft we will be able to pencil in the starting o-line. I'm sure it will be way better than last season, Gase will see to it. We may get Lamp, Pocic, Johnson or Elflien. Any one of these 4 is a plug and play guy. Defense in round one and then take your starting LG in round 2. After that more defense.

I think the coach Gase slowed Tanembaum down when it comes to spending on FA. The only coach with a freaking clue since Jimmuh Johnson.

Completely agree on JJ and Saban ran away like girls and did not complete what they claimed they would. When you are paid the kind of money both of them were paid; burn out and wife does not like a big city is all BS. They were both afraid to fail without the right QB and were not confident that either one could find the right QB. Gase is taking on everything head on and I wish him all the best. He is the first qualified coach that appears to also have the will to put the right roster together.

I mean, there was a time when we had a very solid nucleus on D, Surtain/Madison/ZT/JT (even Marion) were together for a long stretch... and oh yea we had continuity at QB that whole time too... Fiedler lol.

If only we had a semblance of an offense during that time... our defense probably wouldn't have choked so much if that a little damn help too...

Cool to see stuff like this in the offseason

- Shoutout to my boy @M_Darr for coming to LBK to punt to me! Best punter in the league helping me to become the best returner in the league!

- Always glad to work my man!

Agree OP but for the record JJ did win a playoff game here at Seattle before getting blown out by either Denver or Jax. Actually I think he coached us for a win over the Bills in a playoff game. The Trace Armstrong play I think. Just saying.

this is really cool. Kid knows he has to work extra hard. He showed he can make plays - did have a sick TD return in the Tenn game. Rooting for him.

I worry about low effort players that take the money and run.
Once you've done it once, you'll do it again, because it's easier to just get paid.

One more layer of a decent draft to spread on top of the current core and Miami could be a perennial AFC contender.
