The Dolphins are the only team among the three AFC East leaders not to have been defeated by a team with a losing record. Their worst loss is to the Texans, who are 7-7.

The Miami Dolphins did not commit a turnover in Sunday's 14-9 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. That broke the NFL record for fewest turnovers through 14 games, the length of an NFL season from 1961 through 1977. The New England Patriots last year had 11 giveaways through their first 14 games.

Miami also is on pace to become the seventh team to average under one turnover per game. They're averaging 0.71 turnovers. The NFL record was set by the 1990 New York Giants, who committed 0.88 turnovers a game in Bill Parcells' last season as their head coach.
The Dolphins have not committed multiple turnovers in any game this year and are working on a streak of 17 straight games with no more than one turnover.
No, the startling part isn't that quarterbacks Cleo Lemon and John Beck played some of those games.
What's most remarkable is that 17 games are the NFL record by a mile.
The team that came closest to stringing together that many games without multiple giveaways? The Indianapolis Colts, who went 11 straight games in 2006 and 2007.

The Dolphins have put together a magnificent stretch of three straight games without yielding another touchdown. The last time they did that was under Don Shula in 1973, the second of back-to-back championship seasons.
The Dolphins became the NFL's first team to not allow a touchdown in three consecutive games since 2000, when the Pittsburgh Steelers lasted five straight games and the Tennessee Titans held firm for three in a row.
Since the Patriots punched it in on their final drive, the St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills and 49ers have failed to cross the goal line on 29 consecutive possessions. No defensive or special-teams TDs either.

A breakdown of how each drive has ended during Miami's stingy stretch:
-13 punts
-8 field goals
-4 interceptions
-2 turned over on downs
-1 fumble
-1 halftime

After the three ferocious defenses in the AFC, Steelers, Ravens, and the Titans, the Dolphins are 4th in points allowed.

that's definitely awesome to read&see...mad props to our defense for being this stingy...

with our net points being at 14, if we WERE NOT ranked 4th we would probably have a losing record.

Only 2 teams below us (in net points) that do not have a losing record-
washington (-35) 7-7
Denver (-40) 8-6
Everyone else (too numerous to name) are pretty bad.

I hope we can break the record for game without allowing a touchdown. That would be sick nasty. I love me some defense. Think about that current streak it's been almost 30 opponent possessions since we've let the other team cross the goaline. That in itself is astounding. Props to Porter, Channing, W. Allen., Bell and crew.

wait until we get some real players on this team. domination awaits. Thats why I want a NT, 2 LBers, 2 CBs and a S to push us to domination status Defence.

Nice! One word for this: HEART!

This team is really playing way above ability!

people are putting to much emphasis on the no td's allowed during the last 3 games. look what the pats did to us, we played subpar competition during that stretch, while it is impressive it's not like we didnt allow the pats, cardinals, colts to reach the endzone.

I don't think there's too much emphasis on us not allowing TD's. That's an important stat in general but especially to our defense. The pats game was 4 games ago, let's talk about the present. Presently we're two wins from playoffs and our defense is holding the opponent when and where it counts, in the red area (to use Sparano's terminology). The Cardinals? Again that was week 2, this is week 16. It's a world of difference. We didn't play the Colts this year.

I think you're putting too much emphasis on our past... Football is about "what have you done for me lately". its about momentum going into December. We were a completely different team when we played the Cardinals, still looking for an identity, not too mention the Cards are the highest scoring team in the NFL. The Pats on the other hand, was a blessing in disguise. That game woke our D up and look at the effects..

i disagree. i used the pats and cards as examples of high powered offenses, the teams we have held out of the endzone the last 3 games are ranked 25th, 30th and 31st in points scored according to espn. the defense has played great during this run, i'm just pointing out it has not exactly been against top flight offenses.

They might be that bad in scoring because - among others - they also played our defense.

they only played our defense one out of 14 games so far this season, 'm just hoping this defense can rise to the occasion against the "elite" teams in our conference should we happen to make the playoffs.

You forgot a WR and a Special Teams that does not hold...

Well, many teams have had "easy" 3-game stretches before, yet we're the first Defense since 2000 (8 years) to have done this feat.

Is it overemphasized, maybe. But, they are playing VERY good defense any way you cut it. Let's hope they keep it up.
