I am excited at thinking of how good this secondary could be:D

DAVIE —
Tony Lippett broke on a pass from Brock Osweiler and came down with an interception in the first Miami Dolphins training camp practice on Thursday.
It was shades of 2016, when Lippett was healthy and emerging as a threat to intercept almost any pass in his area of the field.

He's one of those guys who can make a real big difference without having to take on a lot of responsibility.

Much more pressure on Howard, Fitzpatrick and Jones to be elite because its expected.

I think we are pretty deep at DB this year and I noticed that the Giants just lost Sam Beal to a shoulder injury (out for the year). I think they could be looking to trade for a DB. Beal was their supplemental draft pick where they gave up a 2019 3rd round pick to get him. They are seriously hurting at that position with no starting caliber players. If I were the Giants, I'd reach out to the Dolphins for Lippet.

What could we get for him? At best maybe a 4th but probably a 5th or lower, that's not worth it. He's more valuable to us right now.

Lippitt is a free agent at the end of the season so he's playing for a new contract. I was skeptical of his recovery from Achilles surgery, because of the position he plays where backpedaling could cause problems with his surgically repaired area. But if Day 1 is any indication that Lippett has returned to health, he could be in for a big season. Miami is going to need to make a choice on whether to re-sign him or not. It all remains to be seen, but if he picks up where he left off Miami secondary is going to be very strong.

That's a tough one. Could turn what was what, a 5th rounder into a solid role player or trade him and take another gamble. I say keep him and take advantage of buying low

Secondary is definitely our stength on defense and possibly the entire team, especially the cb position. As far as the Giants and Lippett if they have good veteran DT then I am interested other than that a 3rd or higher. I am not interested in giving up developing players for like round or lower round picks that we used to aquire our players for. We keep doing that, which we have been doing it is a recipe for failure.

It seems that every time a player shows a sign of competency fans want to trade him. I don't think that this is a viable strategy to build a good football team.

Does this mean we are actually developing draft picks into viable NFL players?

that would be pure stupid to even entertain the idea
I think it would foolish not to entertain it. Miami would have all the leverage and this is contingent upon other DBs (Cornell Armstrong, Jalen Davis) playing well throughout camp and pre-season. I wouldn't entertain it for a 5th round pick since he is a starter and has gotten better every year.

You don't think other successful teams trade players to help build their football teams? I don't buy that.
If Tank is able to beat out Lippett or they are both graded the same, then what do you do there? Also what happens if Armstrong or Davis show out this pre-season. I'd say it's a good problem to have.
