Although not serious enough to keep cornerback Vontae Davis from walking on his own, the Dolphins' first-round draft pick sustained an injury to his left knee during the second quarter that sidelined him for the rest of Thursday night's game.
Davis, with his knee wrapped in ice, walked with a considerable limp while flanked by two trainers as he left for the locker room with a few minutes remaining in the first half.
He stood on the sideline for the final two quarters, no longer wearing shoulder pads, while continually bending his leg as if to test the soreness. Fortunately for Davis, the Dolphins will have 10 days before the start of the regular season to get him healed.

Thanks for the update but I wish the team would tell us something concrete. This is all speculation.

let's just hope vontae's ready to go week 1..he has 10 days..we need him against the falcons highpowered offense..

Stupid artifical turf. Armando is speculating about the extent of the injury and you can never listen to a player. Remember when Donald Thomas downplayed his injury? Remember when Ronnie Brown said he thought his knee was okay? I hope for the best but anytime your knee buckles on astro turf and can't be good. Lets hope for a minor sprain and rest for 10 days will help.

If we sign a CB before you hear the full extent of VD's injury from the team, you'll get your answer.

If we don't, it's probably ok.

Good point.. Although if it was Sean Smith I'd be worried!

IF it was S. Smith i think i would have lost my Sh*t :), either way as mentioned earlier, we really need him ready in 10 days. Falcons have a ton of offensive weapons and we need to counter with as many defensive weapons as possible. I mean who would you rather have covering the extra reciver Jason Allen?

Sounds good but I guess we won't really know how bad or isn't...until they do more tests.

I AGREE FISHY!!!!!

how jason allwen keeps making this team is beyond me. yes, it
will be a mightmare if he is covering the extra wr instead of
vontae!

Joey Thomas & Will Billingsy were just cut. Thomas played for us last year in St. Louis Im guessing Miami would have atleast kept one if Davis injury was bad in case nobody they liked was out there to be picked up.

What a testament it is to Sean Smith's play that your 1st selection overall gets hurt (not an injury as of yet) and the fan's first thought is ( :sigh: ) "Thank goodness it wasn't Smith." I know it was mine.

Whatever your book may be; Christian, LeVeyan, and all in between- keep Vontae in your prayers and rituals and implore that his promising young career does not already take a detour.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Even though neither was impressive they had both been through your camp and know your system. Since Davis wouldn't be starting (yet) why cut a backup this soon without seeing who might get released elsewhere.

I think Ronnie Brown knew he was gonna be gone for the year right after it happened, but the whole thing was downplayed because the thought of losing him in an already lost season was just too much for anyone to bear.

But I do really agree that knees are absolutely tricky things. I've seen a lot of players walk off the field with little assistance only to be out for the year. Not every severe knee injury looks like Willis McGahee.
