Receiver Clyde Gates and running back Daniel Thomas hope 2012 will be a more productive year for them.

More than 15 months after Jeff Ireland handled his first draft without Bill Parcells alongside, the Dolphins know they have a quality long-term starting center in Mike Pouncey and a versatile, skilled receiving weapon in Charles Clay, who has a chance to be Miami’s best sixth-round pick since Yeremiah Bell in 2003.But there are still more questions than answers about that 2011 draft.
Will Clyde Gates, battling for a roster spot, develop into the dangerous deep threat that Ireland expected when he selected him 111th overall?
Is Daniel Thomas closer to the explosive runner who averaged 5.2 yards per carry for Kansas State or the injury-plagued one who averaged what he considered a “very disappointing” 3.5 as a rookie?

clyde gates was one of those players everyone fell in love with last training camp but didnt produce on the feild hopefully he turns it around. and i like DT he just needs to not fumble soo much

I foresee Gates getting cut and Hartline going PUP or next standing next to Gates in the unemployment line. There are 5 more viable options then those 2.

DT showed some flashes last year, and I think he needs a good camp to boost his confidence a little. I've never liked Gates, whether it's receiving or returning, and I doubt he makes the team.

Maybe Gates, but not Hartline. He didn't put up huge numbers, but he at least showed up. I honestly thought his contribution wasn't much less than BMarshall. At least he catches the ball!

I realize in terms of production this is an unrealistic expectation, but I feel that Bush/Miller/D. Thomas could be an interesting New Orleans-esque RBBC a-la Sproles/Ingram/P. Thomas/Ivory. DThomas just needs to show more to make it a good group.

I'm unsurprised with the lack of progress by Gates. I noted his shortcomings after seeing him in preseason last year and got blasted by many on this board.

Clyde Gates try to forget his rookie year, he might as well forget his first week of 2012 TC. He came up with the idea of BIM, he has to make us believers as well.
