Here is what Gase said about the challenges faced as a head coach:

“I think time. Trying to manage your time. Dealing with the media every day, even though you don’t think it’s too much. It’s 15, 20 minute spurts, but it’s more time taken away from what you’re used to doing as a coordinator. And it builds up throughout the week. And then when you have to deal with little tiny things within the building, of organization stuff, where it’s 15 minutes here, 20 minutes here, and then a lot of your day gets ate up by that. Then you’re trying to figure out how do you still game plan. How do you make sure you watch all the film. How do you make sure you are communicating with your coordinators to where everybody is on the same page and your staff and then deal with your players.”
“That’s been the most difficult thing, to make sure we’re doing everything, staying with the details of what we’ve done in the past. When I was at least a coordinator, some of these guys I’ve worked with even before. And that’s been the hardest thing. To make sure that we manage things correctly. There have been some times where we’ve mismanaged some time early in the season. It was a learning curve for a lot of us, trying to deal with that fact that I was calling plays on offense, and our coaches trying to make sure that they knew what I wanted and I couldn’t really spend all the time that I needed to. And then as the season moved on, we really got in a better groove, things were much more organized as far as what we were trying to do. It was nice to have a guy like Vance Joseph on the other side of the ball who handled so many things. He did a good job of managing that side of the ball.”

Can't wait until some of these administrative things become routine for Gase. Let him focus on the opponent and maximizing mis-matches.

Yeah he also knows what he has in terms of the pieces so much more now - Ajayi - the offensive line - Sims - the receivers - the whole team top to bottom.

Also players coming on board know the culture he has created - work hard, stay focused, get rid of the me and get on to the we, and so on.

In this the team can pick and choose players from free agency to improve our depth - and draft to strengthen our core.

We regain Pouncy and Jones and Tannehill - we graduate this years rookie class to sophomore year and we add 10 to 12 players through draft and free agencies.

Next years team rolls out better then this years team by a stretch.

and this type of progression feels so good for once in a long, long time.

I also think the success this team has had, despite the injuries and "lack of talent", can help lure some free agents here.

While I believe Garrett will win the COTY award, the fact that Gase, between roster holes and key injuries accomplished such an impressive turnaround having relatively little to work with, IMO, if it came down to him and Del Rio with his talented relatively healthy roster, this is why Gase should get the nod.

IMO, Garrett with his 2 super rookies will win the COTY. However, this is why I think Gase, who orchestrated such a dramatic turnaround with so many key injuries and pre-existing roster holes should win the recognition if it did come down to him and Del Rio with his relatively healthy and talented squad.

To finish the Zona game like we did, and then go on the road and win against division rivals and make the playoffs. I think he very well could end up getting Coach of the Year.

I did not think we were going to win all 3 of the last games . . . 2 and 1 would of been a major accomplishment . . .but this has been beyond impressive. If voters are like me, Gase has turned from a potential top 5 candidate to the best choice in that time span.

Although I agree, if Oakland finds a way to clinch a bye, Del Rio probably wins it, and a top Dallas team always has a chance, But the best coaching job has come out of South Florida in 2016.

I think gase is coach of the year but he wont get it cause jason garrett is riding his o lines coat tails

Anyone that did not admit/realize there would be a learning curve for Gase is foolish.

Please Ginger is a figurehead. We all know who call the shots in N Texas. /s?

The only way Gase get's COTY is by beating Jason Garrett in the Superbowl

Gase will get overlooked like the phins get overlooked by the media currently. Now if we somehow win a couple of playoff games by a miracle then he win it. Winning the coach of the year is kinda of like making the pro bowl its not if you deserve it but who is most popular.
