When I left Miami 21 years ago, the Dolphins were king of the hill. The Heat were the new kids in town struggling to sell tickets; a major league baseball team was still a dream away; and no one was talking about a hockey team.
Between 1970 and 1990, the Dolphins made the playoffs 13 times, won five AFC championships and two Super Bowls.
Today, the once proud franchise is now disorganized and ridiculed. The fans are fed up with a team that has made the playoffs only once in the last 10 years.
Things have steadily deteriorated since Don Shula was forced by owner Wayne Huizenga to step down as coach after the 1995 season. They reached a new low on Tuesday when a group of angry fans showed up outside the Dolphins offices.

All these constant negative post. Can you guys give it a rest already?

Wonder where these guys get the time to write articles between picking up aluminum cans and dumpster diving???

This genuis writer thinks that we would have been much better if we treated the U of M as the Dolphins' development squad.

To me, the biggest fault has been failure to look 25 miles down the road to the University of Miami on draft day.
At the moment, there are 48 former Hurricanes playing in the NFL and only one, tackle Vernon Carey, is on the Dolphins' roster.
Among those overlooked by various Miami coaches and GMs were running backs Frank Gore (San Francisco) and Willis McGahee (Denver); tight ends Jimmy Graham (New Orleans), Greg Olsen (Carolina) and Jeremy Shockey (Carolina); wide receivers Devin Hester (Chicago), Andre Johnson (Houston), Santana Moss (Washington) and Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis); linebackers Ray Lewis (Baltimore) and Jonathan Vilma (New Orleans); offensive linemen Bryant McKinnie (Baltimore) and Eric Winston (Houston); defensive backs Ed Reed (Baltimore) and Brandon Merriweather (Chicago); and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork (New England)

Never mind all the other teams that "passed" on each of these players so that their respective team's could draft them

He also talks about a "Joe Robbie" curse. Hmmm.... let me see, who was the owner during much of the Dolphins success including the perfect season?

Slow news day to give this guy any time!

I am waiting until after the draft to get really pissed off. To me, it looks like the Dolphins are trying to get younger, and build through the draft. Remember how everyone was alarmed when the Cowboys traded Hershel Walker. Regardless, this still looks very scary.

I am OK thru building thru the draft as long as you prioritze your playmaker gaps

Number 1 playmaker QB
Number 2 Playmaker Pass rusher (we got one but need another)
Number 3 LT (we got one)
Number 4 CB who can stop any number 1 WR

We are in good but not great shape until we stop spinning the wheels at QB position. we need someone at position that will play there for 7 to 10 years like a Rodgers at GB. We are changing QBs every two years.

The writer was stating the obvious, not so much whining. He is absolutely correct. The Robbie owned Fins were a model of stability and we had our chances to get into or win super bowls in every decade Shula was our coach. The Miami Dolphins mattered. Wayne and Jimmy reversed our fortunes IMHO.
The only way to turn this franchise around is to draft great players, exciting players and win ball games. If Ireland can pull this off this year, then he will get a lot of the credit. If the Fins remain the same or worse, it will be his fault.
Philbin has the responsibility to write a new chapter and regain the winning ways of Miami Dolphin football.

its b/c miami dolphins fans (or a good amount of them) are bad fans. notice how the fans idiotic protest is what "brought us to a new low" it was basically bullsh*t. the same dumb fans always crying for "FIND A QB IN THE DRAFT NOT AN OLD RETREAD WAHHH WAHHH" were mad when we didnt sign manning, who was never an option, or flynn, who was a one game wonder and philbin didnt really think he could beat out moore.

so we move on to the draft - we sign a guy who was a solid starter to compete with him and the tools show up with bags on their heads to protest what? i wasnt happy about marshall either but i mean the guy just punched a woman in the face and lets face it he was not a clutch player. now of course if we dont do anything else by august ill be mad too, but i highly doubt that happens. calm the hell down. this is stupid already. seriously.
