Miami Dolphins rookie cornerback Cornell Armstrong. (Charles Trainor/ Miami Herald)

DAVIE — Patrick Surtain was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Miami Dolphins and like rookie Cornell Armstrong, he played at Southern Miss.
So Surtain expressed a desire to connect with Armstrong, and it recently happened.
“He told me to go out there and get as many reps as I can,” Armstrong said Wednesday. “He said, ‘Don’t hide in the back, go out there and just do what I do, do what I did to get here and just play ball.'”
McCain recently said Armstrong reminds him of himself. And so Armstrong has also connected with McCain.

Armstrong seems like a slot guy. Maybe i have a bad read but he's no Surtain

Brother Nick I don't think the article is saying he is another Surtain. They went to the same college and Surtain offered to help him.

Very intrigued by Armstrong. 5' 11" 193 lbs. with 4.3 speed is nothing to brush aside. His highlights were nice. Breaks very well on the comeback route. Had like 3 pick sixes go through his hands.

When Surtain left for Kansas City was really the moment when I knew the defense would start to decline.

If this kid has anything at all he'll be around til next year at least.

Hope he develops into a nice nickle for us, mccain will be here for a while, so Armstrong has plenty of time to develop and be the next man up

Have to say he looked good in the vids I saw of him. Not elite, but a good base to start with. Good closing speed and pretty fearless

Patrick Surtain and Sam Madison were best corner back duo we ever had....

I miss Surtain and Madison. I have high hopes Jones and minkah are the next great duo.
