"Matt's strongest asset is the intangibles, not the tangibles," added his father, Alvin Flynn, who was a quarterback at Baylor in the late 1960s. "He's just very, very competitive. He wants to play, and he works his tail off. When he's had the opportunity to play, he's had the good fortune to play well."

Flynn has worked steadily at his craft, benefitting from coach Mike McCarthy's annual quarterback school as well as his relationship with Philbin and quarterbacks coach Tom Clements. Just last week, Rodgers told a Milwaukee radio station that it "makes sense" that he and Philbin be reunited with the Dolphins.Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall told The Sporting News at the Pro Bowl this past week that he's spoken to Flynn and told him he'd love to see him in South Florida. Butler said he could see the combination of Flynn, Philbin and Sherman making Marshall a much more productive player."He's going to catch 110 passes for 1,500 yards with 20 touchdowns," Butler said. "They're going to line him up all over and make sure everyone knows he's a No. 1 receiver. And Reggie Bush? They're going to put the whole offense on his back. There's no end to what Matt can do working with those guys in that offense."

Good read.

I hope it works out. Like I said, Philbin knows better than any Finheaven member what Flynn can truly do. If he believes he is a franchise QB, and worth the money it will cost, then I support that decision

Agreed.

I really would like to see Manning here, but wouldnt Flynn be the better long term option? We have to assume that the management and coaching staff have faith in him if they were to sign him, and given his age, it would be better building the offense through him, rather than a QB that not only has a couple of good seasons left, but is also damaged goods. Without a doubt, Manning gives us a better chance in the next couple of seasons, but maybe, just maybe, Flynn gives us a better chance the rest of the decade.

I prefer Flynn over Manning. Flynn will cost less and play longer. If Manning is not back to form, he takes a major hit on the cap. We cannot afford that.

We have the perfect scout of Flynn's abilities in Philbin. He needs to do a no BS eval of Flynn.
After seeing Flynn day in and day out is he top 10 material in the NFL.
IF HE IS then this decision is a no brainer. He has no injury baggage, he has many years of of viability.

There is no guarantee that Manning will be cleared to play..
There is no guarantee that Manning will if cleared will be able to perform at the level that he had before the nerve damage...
He comes with HUGE question marks.

Luck is out of reach.
RG3 isn't out of reach but you have to talk about at least 3 draft picks to get there. That is way to high a price for Qb that is not a sure thing.

I the option is Flynn(if he gets the thumbs up from Philbin), + Courtney Upshaw/Quinton Coples and lets say Cody Fleener.

or RG3

Isn't that a no brainer?
You go for Flynn.

I agree that if Philbin gives the thums up then he makes more sense than Manning in the long run and he might even make more sense in the short run too.

Ozzy rules!!

Flynn makes the most sense. He knows Philbin and vice versa. No need to make things hard and risk bringing in another older QB (P. Manning) who is damaged goods.....some of you may have forgotten we already tried that with Daunte Culpooper.
