Good luck to Hayes. He was always a class act.
Gonna take a moment to appreciate all the great work Hayes did for this team. He might be a bit weird, but he was also honest, hard working, and a hell of a leader. Hope he does well in Miami.
Maybe he can meet an actual mermaid now that he's a dolphin.
part cap clearing and part he wasnt going to be a great fit in the new defensive scheme
It's all about cap space. He doesn't fit the new scheme. Trading him saves us $5.5 million. Cutting him saves us only $2.5 million.
Agreed Huge fan of Hayes always played hard, was a great locker room guy, and productive.
Crappy. I understand why, but man the Phins just got a steal here.
Best of luck to you and family Will, and thank you for being a true pro during your time in horns.
People on twitter are saying we got robbed... Some are saying that Hayes was worth a 5th AND 6th.
... people always want to troll.
Disappointed and surprised. I know many fans on here have talked about trading him but I thought he was a much better 3-4 fit than Quinn. Then again if Westbrooks came back we'd have a lot of 3-4 DE fits. The Dolphins got themselves a bargain.
Culture changes apply here too. Hayes was a strong locker room guy under Fisher.
I thought Will was stout enough to play 3 - 4 end. Regardless... the Rams had other plans. So I understand the trade. The Dolphins got a bargain considering they get a pick back as well.
One of my favorite Rams player's. Best of luck to em.
We didn't get more picks.
We had to also send a 7th round pick along with Hayes just to get a sixth.
Sounds like we got the short end of the stick there.
Good for Rams, really good for Hayes..After all, I think the chance to score a smokin'' hot mermaid would be better in Miami than LA...
Hayes is a pro's pro and usually I don't post this, but I wish him all very best with the Dolphins...
I would have to agree that on the surface losing our 7th and Hayes to move up 17 spots does not make sense. If I were getting Hayes to move down 17 spots I would be ecstatic. The other side is that we save some money. A pure numbers deal I think.
Just went through some of Will Hayes Instagram videos they are NSFW, but they are hilarious. Real look at how the players really interact inside and outside of the locker room. The video where he stole Tavon's chain is hilarious. Going to miss that guy.
I think he was worth more to us as a 4-3 DE than the $5.5M he was due. The Dolphins got a $7M+ player on a $5.5M contract and they gave up Draft Chart breadcrumbs. I don't think anyone else here was projecting him as a potential cut.
