Mario Williams — Defensive End[/h]Facing off against New England, the Miami Dolphins will be looking for a similar result to the last time the team faced off against a non-Tom Brady led Patriots offense. That year, Miami whooped up on the Patriots offense — which was being led by
Matt Cassel — and held them to less than 200-yards and only 13-points.
With
Jimmy Garoppolo leading the Patriots offense in place of the suspended Tom Brady, the Miami Dolphins will be looking to their defensive line to help disrupt the Pats passing attack. Most likely to do that, offseason signing and veteran pass rusher Mario Williams.
Recording one sack last Sunday at Seattle, Williams’ play will be key to the Dolphins success on defense. Rushing Garoppolo and forcing him into errors and missed opportunities will be key to Miami’s chances on Sunday. Looking for a win at New England could be the spark needed to help jump start the team’s 2016 campaign.
While I won’t be expecting massive amounts of fireworks from Williams on Sunday, he does need to play a key role when it comes to the little things. Rushing the passer, forcing runners into tackles, and just being a leader on defense are all areas Williams will need to contribute. If he does, look for the Miami Dolphins to have a real shot at beating the Patriots on Sunday.
