Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker has received plenty of hype this offseason from both his coaching staff and the players around him. As his teammate Jarvis Landry learned recently, Miami has some high standards for players looking to receive a contract extension. If Parker has any interest in locking down his fifth-year option, then he will need to have a dominate 2017 season.

Bring it DeVante! I think I speak for everybody when I say we are all looking forward to a healthy season and seeing what you can do. 1,200+ and 8-10 TDs would be nice.

I wish people would quit putting theirown timelines on player development. This is not a make or break year. Rishard Mathews had 108 receptions, 1300 yards and 8 td through 4 seasons with Miami and got a nice contract in year 5. Parker has 82 receptions, 1200 yards and 7 tds through 2 seasons. Last season Parker had more receptions and yards than Mathews ever had in one season in Miami. If Miami opted to give up on Parker prior to 2018 some team would be more than willing to take him with a year left on his rookie deal and even be willing to pay him decently for his second NFL contract. This year could break a player like Jakeem Grant, but Parker will have a role somewhere in the league for years to come. I'm hoping it's in Miami. Even if he has a down year, maybe that just means Miami could re-sign him at a cheaper price... and that wouldn't be a bad thing considering the money Stills has and Landry is expecting to get.

Rishard Matthews was drafted in the 7th round....he has no timeline, and vastly over-performed relative to draft position. Devante is a first round pick and that's the only reason he gets the heat, the expectations, etc etc...

I typically don't like these articles but actually agree with the premise. It's time he shows something for 16 games. He's the kind of x-factor physically that can lead an offense.

I so want to see this guy play 16 games and be consistent from week to week.

I'm just saying even if the light isn't fully on after year 3 for Parker, it doesn't mean it won't happen in year 4 or 5. He may not have show # 1 receiver skils consistently, but he's shown he's at least worthy of being anumber 2 or 3 receiver and would stil be a fine player to have at the right price. It's not like the league is going to give up on him if he's not dominate this season.

i was always taught the word was "dominant" but what do we know out on the plains of Texas... when i saw it that 2nd time i figure its an east coast thing. :thumbsdown

Dominate and dominant are both words. The proper word to us in the context of my post should have been dominant. A player can dominate a defensive back or a player can have a dominant performance against a defensive back.

"It's not like the league is going to give up on him if he's not dominate this season."

should be:
"It's not like the league is going to give up on him if he's not dominant this season."
or:
"It's not like the league is going to give up on him if he doesn't dominate this season.

Devante, from a physically gifted stand point, is our most talented receiver hands down.

I love Landry but Devante has the ability to become an all world receiver. Elite

I'm starting to believe this is the year Parker shows the NFL what he's capable of doing on a consistent basis.

He's shown flashes and they were amazing.

He's big, very fast, strong, has length, and can catch 50-50 balls. (When he's dedicated)

Look at the Bills last year when he did a simple drag route caught the ball and bounced off the defender and sprinted the end zone with ease.

His breakaway speed is very underrated but that's his own problem(shows flashes). Consistency is everything!!

I'll bet he finished the season as the receiver with the most Tds...

Hope I'm right because we know Ajayi and Landry will bring it.

PHINS UP!!!
