I'm thinking about getting Directv with the HD reciever, and the HD NFL Sunday Ticket. Do you guys think it is worth it to do it this year or wait a year? One reason I'm concerned is the format change Directv is about to go through with HD. The Washigton Post had an article about this.

I really want to see the entire season this year, but I don't want to spend a load of cash then have to spend more later for the HD upgrade. Or should I just go to a sports bar this year?

I told you about that Miami Heat! How about Randy Moss in a Heat jersey, does this mean he wants to be in a Dolphins Jersey? I'll have a Randy, make mine a double (Moss and McMicheal)

Get NFL Sunday ticket.

It's the greatest invention ever.
It makes the automobile and the printing press look like the pez dispenser.

I don't know how people who don't have NFL Sunday Ticket make it through life.

I personally think that HD is way better than regular sat. I am going to spend the extra coin for the HD package this year. Last year, Direct TV gave me free HD for 6 months, then I cancelled it. Nothing else on it that I want to watch.

I definitely reccomend to get NFL Sunday Ticket. Trust me. You won't be disappointed once the season starts. NFL SUNDAY TICKET changed my life.

I don't have Sunday Ticket. You people continue to break my heart :'(...can't somebody just say "Hey, it's not that great!"? :p

The only thing that isn't great is the price. Besides that NFL Sunday Ticket in HD rocks!

Directv is upgrading their system to Mpeg4, which will mean all current receivers will have to be replaced. I personally would wait unti lthe upgrade is complete before chelling out the $ for a receiver that will be obsolete in less than a year.

I just switched my plan from regular DirectTV to HD DirectV and was told when this change occurred the receivers I just had installed would be able to make the switch. The guy said if they are older than 6 months they would probably need to be changed. Anyhow do yourself a huge favor and get it for the Sunday Ticket. It's definently worth it.

Although Directv will change to MPEG4 they've always been good at taking care of early adopters. If they dont I'm going to raise hell because I have the directivo. $1000.

At the very least they'll probably end up crediting my account for the cost of a new one or sending out a replacement.

They have a good track record of not telling customers they are SOL.

oh yeah, sliced bread has nothing on Directv NFL sunday ticket.

I was extremely pissed last year with the way they presented the Titans game (it was on tape delay the next day), but also it wasn't shown in HD and it was originally scheduled to be shown.

DirecTV is supposedly going to "take care" of any HD/Tivo subscribers that need new equipment when they go to MPEG4. What "take care" means is anyone's guess, although anything less than full equipment replacement would be asking for trouble.

The HD Tivo finally came down in price recently... went from $1000 to $750 on DirecTV's site, and you can find a new one on eBay for $600-700. I'm still waiting for another drop. Even with the temptation of Sunday Ticket in HD, $700 plus the extra $100 for HD Ticket + the extra per month for HD is an awful lot for just a handful of channels.

moss is a big heat fan. has floor season tickets.

He's a bandwagon fan, you didn't see celeb's, professional sports players at Miami games until they started winning this year. It's pretty pathetic.

Sorry, but I'd rather watch a cheetah hunting antelope in HD then most regular cable programs. Once you go HD, SD is just so Neanderthal.
