When we have a win like this, on the road against a divisional rival and especially because it is the Jests, I try not to get my hopes too much. In the past a big win like this is usually followed by a big let down. Given our recent history, can anyone get excited that we have turned the page, the corner and we are going to ride this wave to better production in the future. With Dan I anticipated every contest to be a victory, but post Marino; I always have a feeling of impending doom. One step forward, two steps back.

But things changed, Minkah only made 1 mistake - McCain too. Larsen was better than I anticipated, not great, but above mediocre. Baker and McMillan both flashed.. Gore was Gore and Drake was productive. The WRs showed up. RT was good. Except for a couple of calls, the offense was good. Burke, while still employing his bread and butter at times that left me scratching my head, mixed in multiple looks that makes me think there might be some turn around in his philosophy(although I was baffled at some of the ways that NY attacked some of the fronts). Finally, we had a complete game on both sides of the ball at the same time. The best part of the whole experience was that we beat the Jests and shut up Fireman Dan.

I never thought that the pundit's predictions were correct and I anticipate a lot of retractions as the season goes forward from the idiots on TV i.e. "I never thought with the losses they had in personnel they could be this good". So with subdued enthusiasm, I look to the future and at the end of this journey maybe we will be able to pop a cold one and be satisfied by the experience.

After the Dolphins hung on to this 20-12 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, after playing well at times and poorly other times, I heard a lot of talk about getting better and aiming higher.
I heard a lot about how too many opportunities were wasted.
I heard about how more work is needed.
You know what I didn’t hear a lot?
How good the Dolphins think they are.

Listening to the post game interviews on almost all the players this week and last week ,they all know they aren't clicking on all cylinders.

Gase said 4 weeks,he knew it would take Ryan and the teammates that long to settle down. Beat Oakland at home this week, we'll be heading into foxborough 3-0.

What more can we ask for?

3-0 would, of course, be the absolute best case scenario. I don’t see the Dolphins going to Foxborough and beating the Patriots, but first things first: they have to beat the Raiders.

Great start. Especially pleased with the run defense in the first two games. That to me is the biggest surprise. Plus, absolutely loved how Miami put the game away on the ground.

It's early and 2-0 was where I thought Miami would be right now, but I do think it can continue.

The win was great but it's even better that the players know they are not playing their best ball, not by a longshot.

I have gone back and read some of the posts on the board and I am wondering if it was the same game that I was watching? Yes, Ryan was not perfect. He held on to the ball too long, but his pocket awareness has never been good. With that said, there was more good than bad. If you ask me, he is a WR that is able to play QB not the other way around. He lacks some of the intangibles for the position. He is never going to be elite and NEVER live up to that contract, but he can be good and if we put pieces around him maybe be more than what I envisioned.

DK I am a little confused by your post.....what are you saying? We won the game for sure, but they are some areas of concern...you agree? Ryan was not perfect I get that, but all the other stuff you said is a head scratcher. R you saying he should he be the QB for this team or not?

He has already lived up to his contract, and much more. And i guarantee you that contract is going to get a lot bigger- recommended and paid by the guys who have skin in the game.

re that WR comment, not even worth taking to task. you is what you is.

I am saying exactly what the post said. He is never going to be elite, but he is the QB of the team. We could do a lot worse than RT, but we could improve the position.

:eek::confused:eek:

Oooo please, although very comical to read. They will draft his replacement next year. Tannehill era will be over sooner than later unless the unimaginable happens. I certainly won't hold my breath!
