Defensive tackle Davon Godchaux probably won’t be a starter this season, due to impressive depth on the Miami Dolphins defensive line.

He doesn’t care. He has confidence in himself. And tons of confidence in what the defensive line will do this season.

i hope its open competition between him spence and taylor. I really figured DG would grab the bull by the horns this year. I guess the DL coach has worked with Spence before so maybe that's why he has the current leg up.

favorite line out of the entire article though was

“I love going against Josh Sitton each and every day,” he said. “He’s going to get me better each and every day. He’s a vet All-Pro, Pro Bowl guy. It doesn’t get much better than that. He’s one of the best in the league at it, if not the best.” I'm not at the practices, even though that would be super cool, but im sure Sitton is handing him out knowledge too. Kilgore might not be a pro bowl center like pounce was years ago, but do you think it benefits our DT's facing our starting C everyday in practice compared to going up against 2nd-3rd string quality centers that are really G's that can snap

It's not like with Suh we were a top 5 or even 10 or now that i think of it even a top 20 run defense. I'm really not as worried as some about it. I think the overall depth is better so im optimistic.

How is the depth better? It’s the same . . . Except we swapped Spence for Suh lol

And the LB depth being better depends on McMillan and a turn around year from Kiko. As underwhelming as Timmons was, he would be battling Kiko for 2nd best LB, assuming McMillan is the best, which honestly is still not a certainty.

It needs to be a major worry, because when teams can run the ball on us, it takes away our two strengths on defense (DE and secondary) and keeps are potential third strength (the offense) off the field.

I like Davon, especially for where we got him. He’s a vitally important piece.

I felt like he started out like gangbusters last year but faded late. Let’s hope for a strong season, all the way through.

PS I have always liked what I’ve seen from Vincent Taylor too. Not as athletic in attacking upfield, so I hope the coaches aren’t blinded by that. I think he’s got value.

This guy is a bull. I was very surprised how he held up against starting guards right out the gate, but eventually hit the rookie wall. He's not Suh, but he's no slouch either.

Im sure he looks a lot more imposing in person, but seeing those braces just makes me want to give him a big bear hug.

Love this kid. He was a great find for us. See you later Philips.

Agree about the DT depth and drop off, it's definitly a concern. But we are much better at LB this year, it's not even close. The return of McMillan, and the additions of Baker, Poling and whatever other UDFA's are competing is miles ahead of where we were last year when McMillan went down. Stephone Anthony has his obvious flaws, but he is also a great athlete that can contribute in a big way as well. Our LB's will be the key to this defenses success, and they are in a much better spot compared to last year (high hopes for Baker). Terence Garvin was a good pick up as well.

The key for the defense is the offense. If this O does it’s job and we can actually get a lead then Wake and Quinn can pin their ears pack and do their thing. I don’t care how good your DT’s are if you’re always playing from behind it eventually wears on you.

It’s better, only because it was embarrassingly bad last year . . . .and the only reason I even debate it is because my opinion of Alonso and Timmons were much higher when McMillan went down than it was at the end end of the season.

But it’s pretty pathetic when Anthony, Baker and Poling makes the unit “miles” better depth wise lol
