If somebody told you in August that Miami would lead the NFL in rushing yards after four games, while noting the Dolphins also would be No. 1 in third-down efficiency, those two nuggets might have been enough to cause some seriously lofty predictions.
A 4-0 start? Maybe not. But just one win? Yeah, right.
``I also know we're 31st in the pass,'' said Dolphins guard Justin Smiley, adding a potent dose of justification for the team's inability to benefit from so much success on the ground this season. ``Which is bad.''
So maybe that starts to explain things. But given the nature of just how dominant the Dolphins' ground attack has been so far, even a lackluster passing game doesn't seem to entirely justify a 1-3 record because so many runs can limit the number of pass attempts.
It is the other struggles -- turnovers and red-zone inefficiency -- that have mattered more. And Sunday's dominating win against the Bills might have proved just that.
